Sorry, if it's just the takedown screw, what thread size is it? I had a 10/22 once but don't remember the size of the screw - something tells me it's 10X32 or something like that. Here's what you could try. Take the takedown screw out, clamp it carefully in a vise and distress the threads near the business end (not too much) with a prick punch - this sounds crazy, but what it does is help to make the fit tighter to an extent, because when you hit the prick punch with the hammer, it obviously drives the punch into the steel, raising a little edge around the hole. I have seen old hands doing this before. As said previously, you could also use a suitable grade of thread locking compound, or a lockwasher, or a combination of both. Best regards, Tony
