10/22 td worth it?

I am considering buying one of the new ruger takedowns. Been reading up on them a bit. For all you cgn'ers that own one could you please tell me the good, the bad and the ugly of this particular gun? Worth it or not?
 
I bought one early last year and it wouldn't stay tight. Traded it off at a huge loss and bought a second one. Same issue. Never again.

heh No, it was at the range while I was trying to adjust the bolt, and cursing the gun. A guy offered me almost a full crate of 7.62x54r for it. I hemmed and hawed until he dragged the crate out onto the tailgate of his pickup - done deal.
 
Have had mine a couple of months and love it. Being able to quickly remove the barrel was really handy as I found if had a bad lead build up problem with Remington Thunderbolts. American Eagle and Blaser 40gr are fine. I still check my barrel a couple of times each range trip though. The only thing I will change are the sights. Have some truglo fibre optic sights on order. May do a trigger job on it later.

Full crate of 7.62x54r is worth more than any 10/22, IMO.:)
 
I bought a 10/22 take TD for my son because I thought that it would be great to carry on a ATV in BC.

It shot tight groups, but I had trouble keeping it zeroed after take-down and set-up. Also, since I am old school I wasn't to keen on the black plastic stock.

I advertised it for sale and sold it the same day with no loss.

I bought two Browing bl. 22 (grade 11) levers and love these rimfires. Short lever throw and they have a very good feel. One wears scope, other open sight, and they are very accurate and don't lose zero.

You can try one yourself at no real risk, as these guns are still hard to find in stock so if you don't like it you can sell it quickly.
 
I love ruger 10/22 and i dont get this break your gun in half thing... I have 20 guns on my list and a TD Ruger is at about 50ish. Barelle and action plus scope all working out after a take down sounds like a toy.
 
I'd have to say no. The plain jane 10/22 or the 10/22 compact is a better deal. Invest in some threaded cross pins and a winged takedown screw if you want to dismantle it.
 
Love mine. I had only intended on owning one 22LR. Left my name at the shop and they called a few weeks later with the TD.

As far as going to the range, it is great to just throw the bag in the back of the truck.

I like the iron sights at 25 and 50 from standing. Have some banana mags too.

Great fun for the money I think.
