10/22 tough chambering?

Hi,

Here's my setup

ruger 10/22
lot of Volq parts: extractor, stock, sear, hammer, release
Weaponkraft buffer
GM barrel

Problems:

1. Very often when i release the bolt to chamber a round, i have to push the bolt to close the bolt completely.

2. When i shoot the old case don't eject enough and stay stuck in ejection port with the unfired round partially in chamber.

I have these problems since i installed my GM bull barrel.


I tried to push a fired round in chamber with my hands with no problem. I tried with a new round and it not chamber freely. It is so stiff that i have to use a screw driver to remove the bullet. Is that normal?

Do i have to lightly polish the chamber for a smooth chambering? How to do it?

My new 10/22 with the Krinker kit does the same. It is oem except for the furniture and clark mag release. My stainles oem one funtions great. I am interested in hearing from the experts. It was suggested to me that I bend the extracter a bit but I have NO idea what that means.
 
What kind of mags are you using?

I have had feed problems that led to stovepiping with improperly tuned magazines. Also had problems using "hotlips" mags.

You can try to radius the back of the bolt,
but X2 Musky Hunter for sure try to polish it first. If you feel any "grittyness" when cycling the bolt, start with it.

Make sure you r bolt handle assy is functioning right, and the action is not over lubed.

Cut and Paste for all other ideas.

I forgot to ad, i use a Volquartsen extractor wich is fine tuned if you compare to Ruger one.

The bolt is highly polished and radiused for better function. Also is the part of hammer in contact with the bolt.

I only use Ruger rotary original mags. They are properly cleaned and tensioned.

I will check for burrs in chamber tonight.

I tried:

Win Dynapoints, X22lr, target.
Fed Lightning, classic, Am Eagle.
CCi mini-mag, Blazer.

Some Hi-vel are working better but are not perfect in my rifle, the problem always occurs.

Could be a too tight and/or dirty chamber, give the chamber a good cleaning if it continues call GM you could have a dud barrel. Also could be a burr at the chamber mouth.
 
Ok,

I checked the chamber and i see no burrs.

I never used a brush to clean this barrel before, only the melted weed eater wire trick.

I took a brush for the first time yesterday to clean the chamber. there was a lot of lead. never saw that before. The ammo now chambers freely.

When i shoot i see lead shavings from bullets in ejection port. Not sure it helps.

I'll try the rifle this weekend.

Have you checked alignment? I have a GM 20" on mine and it took a bit of fiddling to get it straight on the reciever. I bought some blue snap caps at my local shop to chamber while doing this, don't use live! They will scrape and you can see where to adjust. I found it only took a few minutes before it was bang on, ie round going in straight, extracting straight. I have not had a failure to feed or extract, just a little care in assembly and you should be ok!
 
I actually get lead shavings on mine as well... on the bottom, about the 7'oclock position when looking at the chamber face.

I get the occasional failure to feed, but using the Ruger factory BX-1 mags improved the situation a lot. I still get 50yard groups of about 1/2", so I'm happy either way... :)
