10/22 trigger advice.

My Machinist did a trigger job on his 10/22 and mine and they break around 2.5 lbs, clean and predictable.

He also installed a trigger stop, I cannot begin to tell you the massive difference over the gritty stock trigger!

i have a BX, Brimstone, Timney, Kidd, VQ ect ect ect.

the Brimstone is 10 times the trigger the BX is hands down.
tier 1 Brimstone that is.

its on par with my timney, still not a Kidd 2 stage but its half the price of one.

I have the bx and its pretty good at 2.2 pounds..

I would go timney for all metal trigger or kidd if you have big budget. When I bought the bx it was only 70$ but now they are like 120..

I would have bought this one except it came on line after I ordered a Timney:

They really aren't hard to do yourself if you're at all handy with tools. Polishing up the return spring plunger and adding an over travel screw will help quite a bit, or you can ditch the plunger altogether and make an internal return spring from music wire. I've stoned engagement surfaces without any jigs with good success too, just be careful and go slow. On one of my 10/22's I also drilled and tapped the hammer for a set screw so that I can adjust sear engagement, and another set screw in the sear to adjust the slop out of the disconnector when the trigger resets. And if you screw up completely, you have the perfect justification for buying an aftermarket trigger assembly.

when i picked up m y VQ trigger stuff i think it ended up costing me near $150 and that was back when the dollar was at par.
i cant imagine it only costing $35 now.
that might be for just the trigger itself and not the actual trigger 'kit'.

in fact i just went and had a look at the VQ website and the HP Action Kit (which has everything in it) is $125US.
just the hammer and seer are $80US
trigger alone is $28.50US
Target Hammer alone is $43US

so you must be talking just the trigger which is not the trigger group, the trigger alone is not gonna do what is needed to make the trigger group nicer to shoot you need to do everything in it.

ruff pricing for triggers in Canada
VQ HP action kit $150
Timney $280
Kidd 2 stage $430
Ruger BX $130
Brimstone tier 1 with all the extra's AND a totally new trigger group from ruger supplied by them plus shipping and exchange and everything $290
Brimstone tier 1 with your trigger tier 3/2/1 = $39/$74/$110US plus shipping.

ok I ment the volquartsen drop in hammer. Witch improves the trigger greatly and they are only 35.99.

I just got my 10/22 trigger group back from BlackWorks in Alberta. They did an awesome job and at a very reasonable cost compared to the drop-in options some of you have described. I am super-pleased. Went from one of my least favourite rifles to shoot to a new favourite...surprise break each time. PM CGN member RandyHub for more info.

Thanks NVShooter, BlackWorks have done my trigger and few of my buddy's and the trigger improved dramatically. :)

Around 2.5lbs is nice for me.
