I have had my 10/22 out at the range a lot lately due to low cost of ammo and I’ve noticed the trigger is a little on the heavy side. I looked at the offerings from Fab sports and at 2 ¾ lbs I was wondering if there was a lighter trigger on the market and if I need any lighter than that. I tried to find the stock pull weight on a 10/22 but came up short. Any feedback from guys with trigger jobs would be appreciated.

Drop in trigger group internals = VQ, Clark, Power Customs...etc.
Drop in trigger = Timney
Now....If you want to go with a complete drop in "trigger group" thats a different story.

In your post you did not mention what year your 10/22 is, plastic one or metal, lots of fuss about the plastic, but they feel the same when all the issues are addressed. It takes more than just a new hammer to make a nice trigger. What I have found is that all the pins need to be oversized to make the group have a nice feel. The sear should also be an adjustable one so that you can control the creep. Otherwise, you may get a nice pull, but still have a lot of creep before it breaks. It should also get a screw installed to control the amount of overtravel as well. It really depends what you want, the nicer the trigger, the more it costs. I have seen a few of the newer ones that you could hold the weight of the rifle with the trigger, up in that 9 pound effort when measured. Hard to shoot anything with that kind of trigger effort. I didn't have a scale to check mine before I began, but it's at 7.5 lbs now after polishing and stoning the sear. I also cut 1 coil on the trigger return spring, and re-radiused the plunger. I would venture to say it was at least 9 lbs to begin with. With 1 coil cut it take 2.5 lbs just to compress the trigger return spring as it is. Yes, this is the PLASTIC
trigger group, if that makes any difference. When I get some time I will stone the angle on the hammer sear and may take out 1 more coil from the return plunger. - I'm aiming for 3.5-4 lbsi just installed the power custom kit from hawktech. hammer, adjustable sear, springs, bushings, and adjustable trigger for about $90. i also grabber a bolt buffer and coupler for stock mags. im happy with the new trigger pull. i dont have a tool to measure it, but there is a significant difference.
KIDD will not ship anything to Canada talked to him last week. this sucks as he is one of the best.
hawktech is the way to go.

stay away from rimfiresports.com. more expensive and TERRIBLE service.
x2 on Hawktech, they have great service. I also put in the Power Custom kit and liked it, then took it all apart and polished some of the faces of the parts and it cycled even that much better. A nice, consistent 2.5 lbs pull. As for Kidd groups, I have spoke with Tony and his wife before and know that will not even ship anything to Canada, I only refrenced it cause it offers a nice variable in pull weights and reliability. I bet if someone wanted one bad enough they could get one here.

I just finished all the trigger group tricks (polish/JB weld) in the tips and tricks section and I am VERY impressed. They are fairly easy to do and get you to now your gun. And if I screwed up I was willing to buy an aftermarket trigger group.
I have had great luck with rimfiresports.com for some of my internal items and my hogue stock that was on sale last year.
I am glad I did it myself. I am starting to work on lightening up the pull. I am at about 7.5lbs of pull, I just need a different hone. The above video is a good start if you are nervous about the modifications. Just go slow and be prepared to take your gun apart lots!
