10/22 trigger options.

Go on KBC tools website and look at getting one of there precision toolmakers vises, they are very usefull for doing work on lots of small parts. Then look on rimfirecentral.com for 10/22 hammer stoning techniques, they have some really good DIY ones.

Nice video. Thanks for posting it, i would never have found it. Im a little nervous about the hammer filing without the PC tool to get the right angle, but ill give it a shot and see if i can rig something up. Any ideas on that btw?

You could buy a hammer that is done, the video is still good to show the steps. If you do it yourself go slowly (as the video recommends). I used a fine whetstone. Took it apart 5 times but am happy with the results.

Thanks for all the links and ideas guys. I stoned and sanded all the faces and when put it back together it felt so much smother but not any lighter. But then calalta posted the video and bam 5 min and some free hand stone work and she’s silky smooth. I don’t have a gauge but I would say iv dropped over half the pull weight I think I might take it down a bit more but its feeling good. Thanks again for the links and help now I’m off to show all my buddies how easy this is.

I've take then trigger group appart but haven't touched the safty before. Is it tough to install?

The reason I ask is when I buy my 10/22 I would like to order an alluminum trigger assembly shell and put all the parts in that.

the spring for the safety can be tricky, don't take it out unless you are replacing the safety with a oversized one or a left handed one.

I used a ball point pen with the ball point remove to hold the spring and other part down, took a couple tries. Everything goes flying when it doesn't work. Some recommend doing it in a zip lock so you can find your spring when it goes BOING and it will.

OOPS, just read your post again about the new trigger housing!

Lacking proper tools, I just used a stone from my Lansky set and did it by hand, no vice etc, and it seems to work good. I haven't tested it at the range yet,(tomorrow out at homestead i think) but the pull is less then half of what it was and everything works properly. I had to take it apart and put it together for testing 4-5 times, but I'm surprised at how easy it is. Thanks for the info on this one. The auto bolt release is super easy too, did it with a Dremel and 15min of my time.

Once again, thanks for the info, you guys saved me $50 for a new hammer and whatever it would have cost for the auto bolt release. :D
