hey folks, new guy here, though not really new to shooting. i was down at the local shop the other day and as playing with a 10/22. the entire trigger system was PLASTIC! is this the new thing? or is a model specific feature? the guy at the shop thought that was how they were all built now. they reduce weight alot, but they feel really chintzy. can you still buy new 10/22s with the metal triggers?

They have been plastic for a year or two now. They are like that on all new models. They do feel chintzy but you can always replace the trigger to a metal one. The trigger assembly will be harder to get in metal though would have to be take offs or buy a fancy new one.

if you really don't like the plastic triggers, Nonus is right. you're best bet is to buy a used gun or go with a nice aftermarket trigger. i believe Volquartsen makes a good one iirc

I put a WTB ad in the EE and got a metal trigger assembly with all the bits and pieces for it (trigger, sear, hammer etc) for 50 bucks. Way better than the plastic one.

If you can, try to dry fire the plastic one and see if it even bother you, maybe you will not notice anything. I did, felt like the trigger was flexing with every pull.

If you are interested in one of the best trigger housings out there, check into Rimfire Technoligies CNC trigger housings. I have heard they are just awesome.
