Looking to replace the triggers on a couple 10/22. The stock triggers are heavy and just plain suck. What are my options and what kinda coin are we talking? Can the stock ones be reworked by a gunsmith?

Try the drop in volquartson kit first.

The vq trigger assembly is nice, as is the kidd.

They start at around $100 on up. KIDD was about $300

All you really need is the vq hammer (35 shipped from rimfiresports) to get a 2.5 lb trigger. I did one of mine with the vq hammer and the other I did myself by polishing everything and got it to 3 lbs exactly. I actually prefer the trigger I did myself.

The Volquartsen hammer kit for the existing trigger group works just as advertised and is well worth the $35. I did mine and it became so freakin light that I actually sometimes squeeze off rounds prematurely just by laying my finger on it while sighting in on target. Definitely a big change from the heavy factory trigger, but so light that it's almost only suited for true heavy barrel target rifles (my 10/22 isn't a target variant and the trigger is a bit too light now for my liking).

that said, I really don't see what the complete $200-300 trigger sets can offer over the $35 Volquartsen hammer kit... if a light trigger pull is what you're after, the $35 kit will do it for you... and perhaps even over-do it! (like it kind of did for me). Custom aftermarket triggers are also offered if you want one that looks cool. It's all very easy to do yourself and comes with instructions.

Check out rimfire technologies website.I am not sure if they ship to canada anymore, but I bought a hammer/sear kit from the guy while he was still just posting/selling on rimfire central...awesome crisp 2lbs. and adjustable.Great customer service too.

I found it pretty hard to find the VQ or Power Custom kits in Canada. Most places in the states won't ship direct. Does anybody know of a good relyable place in Canada that sells these at a reasonable price?

power custom w/ adjustable sear, spring kit, and all the polishing info are on stickies here. mine too is a hair trigger, about 2lbs.

if your not inclined, that Timney sounds like a good deal, at least i have heard good things.
