Here she is. My first 10/22 Ultimate.

VQ Carbon Fibre Barrel (from Rimfire Sports)
Custom Bolt Release (by me)
Custom Bolt Lock (by me)
Custom Bolt Handle(by me)
Skeletonized Trigger (by me)
Raptor Stock (Envy) (from Hawktech)
Tasco 8x32-44 Target Scope

I did alot of the work myself. I did my very first trigger job (1.5lbs) with no creep and added an overtravel screw for the trigger. I polished the mag plunger and the mags so now they just drop free with a smooth push of the mag release. All of the trigger group got polished to a mirror surface so everything cycles like a knife through warm butter. The black paint on the receiver was removed and I Duracoated the receiver with Stainless Steel. Prior to painting I put the reciever in my little mill and gave it a custom contoured look. And finally, I got rid of that stupid bolt lock in front of the trigger guard and made a small aluminum cylinder thas srews onto the bolt lock so NO MORE FIDDLING to lock the bolt back.

And after all of that she shoots 1/2" at 50yds benched. I don't know why I waited so long to do this. I have never had a .22 target rifle that was as refined as this is. It shoots like a dream and the stock fits me like a glove.:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Time to start another.............:p

One piece scope mount man..those rings look dinky
Did you use an indexing head for those holes on the bolt handle, or just a rotary table?
 
looks wicked... but you need to get a better scope mount setup you got a wicked gun but hideous scope mount check out this mount from leupold its really clean looking I don't know why they installed it so far forward but it works well. I would move it back to the other hole but its shooting so good so I wont mess with it. It comes in silver too.

I used a rotary table for the bolt handle holes.

I still want to jewell the bolt but I'm having a hard time getting a nice result and I think its because of the polish I'm using, Aluminum polish.
 
How did you get Hawktech to ship the barrel? I thought they wouldn't ship those to Canada anymore?

Sorry, I got the barrel from Rimfire Sports although Hawktech told me they are establishing a means of shipping to Canada and it should be in place within the next week or so.
 
would a south paw shooter be able to use that stock? or is it set up just for right handed shooters

Hawktech also carries the Boyd Evolution stock which is almost identical to the Raptor but its for both left and right handed shooters. I thinks its about $165.

Really like those home made parts and great job on the trigger as well. Did you change the degree on the hammer to lower the trigger pull? Either way great job - its really looking great :cool:
 
I changed the angle of the notch in the hammer as per one of the treatise in Rimfire Central and I remove a little material from the hammer so the notch is somewhat shorter, if thats the right word. The engagement surface has been reduced is a bertter way of describing it. The sear was also polished to a mirror surface and that alone made a substatial difference. I did screw one thing up buy shortening the trigger return spring too much which is just behind the trigger, so it wouldn't reset. I had a spare so I wasn't as aggressive on the replacement I used.

I figured I could either buy all VQ replacement parts for the trigger group or take a stab at doing it myself with the guidance of Rimfire Central. At the very worst I would screw it up and have to buy the parts anyway. As it turn out, it's not that hard to do it if you take your time and do the proper research first. It really lets you get to know your gun so any future troubleshooting is easy and it saves some dollars that could be better spent elsewhere (new pistol maybe;))
