...bad for the pocketpook!!!

Well, here's the running total so far:

- I trade a rifle that I bought for $475 for the 10/22T
- TI 25 mags x2 from the US; $100  (didn't realize it was gonna be that much)
- 11.5" ER Shaw barrel; $270
- ATI Fiberforce stock; $50
- VQ extractor, extended mag release and bolt buffer; $40
- Yankee Hill threaded muzzle flash suppressor; $50
- Bushnell Banner 1.5-4.5x32 scope; $80
- low profile Weaver scope rings; $45

Grand Total: $1110 :runaway:

All that for a rifle that is to replace my $150 Marlin that shoots 1.5 MOA at 50 yards right out of the box.

What was I thinking?!?

Oh yeah... now I remember: :p Super-short barrel with wicked-cool looking flash hider, 25 round mags and a 2.5 lbs trigger pull. THAT'S what I was thinking!

:D

Sweet, I want pics! :D

Mine should be fun to shoot as well... I went with a Nordic stock. Still waiting on the damned screws and it's killing me! DO WANT. NOW.

I LOVE the look of the Nordic stock... A little pricey for me right now at this stage in the game. As it is, if my wife ever finds out how much I spent total on this one rifle, I'd be dead five times before I hit the floor!!

Why would you get a 10/22T and replace the barrel/stock? I also got a T brand new and for less on Frontier.

Yeah the Ruger seems to be one of those things that just needs to be upgraded. Then you get your Visa bill and realize you spent a #### load on it and it still won't shoot properly.

Well, you know how it is... I just can't seem to leave anything alone! :D

It was the only 10/22 that I could find with an all metal trigger group, a target hammer and auto bolt release already installed, and an owner who was willing to trade for it as I am not allowed to buy anymore rifles for a while.

I took it out shooting before I dissembled and sold off the stock and heavy barrel and to be quite honest, I really wasn't happy with the way it shot. Besides, I really don't enjoy bench shooting as much as I used to. Off-hand shooting is where it's at for me right now.

The lighter and shorter the better!! :D

Matthew

I don't find the T to be that bad for off hand shooting, it is kinda nicely balanced. Now if you were to do it for a while then it would be heavy. I have never done bench shooting so I wouldn't know much about it.

The heavier barrel of a 10/22T does make it a bit easier to stay on target, but you're absolutely right, doing it for an extended period of time off-hand really starts to fatigue my arms.

The only issue I have with bench shooting is that it has little 'real-world' benefit to me. I'm not a sniper (never will be the way I shoot!), I don't long-range hunt, and while target shooting is fun, I'm not competition quality, so really, it's of no use to me.

The rifle I traded for the 10/22T was a CZ 452. Beautiful rifle, accurate as 'all get out', but I found it sitting home more and more the longer I owned it. It was the $150 Marlin that made the trips to the range with me as it is accurate enough and just so much more fun to shoot.

(I'd tell you a story here about putting some RCMP officers to shame with it but I'd better not!) ;)

No... I'd much rather have a short, lightweight, hi-(or should I say 'normal')capacity mag that I can carry all day in the woods and still get me a bunny or two come rabbit season.

I have a feeling that the T barrel will get me all sore after a bit but oh well, that is the price you pay for greatness :D

I like doing the basic three stances, prone, sitting and standing, I go crown land plinking so there is never a bench there for me, usually just a big bolder and my sweatshirt.

Just kinda weird to trade a gun for the T and then get rid of the stock and barrel but that is just me. At least your stuff sold quickly, at that price it was pretty much a steal.

Also how come no pictures?

Here is my funky artsy photoshopped pic of my 10/22 toy. I think it was built pretty reasonably.Sorry the pic is a bit dark used the crappy built in flash should have used my big flash..

Anyway your basic 10/22 orginally walnut stock blue barrel. Added tapco t6 stock. Then added a 1 inch sling , added a 20 buck combo front grip/bipod that goes on the front rail which works great so far actually. Added a decent quality reflex type red dot. I use my m6 laser/flashlight on it sometimes for fun and also use it on some of my other guns but of course it should be dialed to a specific gun for best accuracy so might buy a couple more of them.It also of course is picanny rail mount so goes on in seconds.

Got some TI mags ordered for it as well and ordered some of those parts by that company that can't pronounce that starts with V. ..things like extended mag release, bolt buffer, couple other tweaks.

Last things ordered but not here yet were flash hider /muzzle break thing that just bolts on end of the barrel. I am debating moving my stainless barrel off my other ruger 10/22 to this gun or leaving it with the blue barrel which does look a bit more military black rifle look.

If do that then might leave my other 10/22 with its stock black synthetic stock and normal stainless barrel but was debating hoge overmold and green mountain 20 inch stainless fluted heavy barrel .Already have decent variable scope on that one and was thinking bipod and maybe strap to finish it off .
That one could possibly get some target tweak mods to trigger and stuff as well not sure how far wanted to go with that. Mostly think would be better to build a more target oriented 22 pistol out of my 22 ruger hunter mk3.

The 10 /22 rifles are mostly for plinking, gopher hunting at the farm type of thing. And how accurate do you need a gun to be for that?

Here is the normal pic again too dark though.

I hear ya on this one. Ruger now has some nice stocks and bull barrels right from the factory. Its all about the fun in doing a project yourself, and customizing it the way YOU want it look!

if u think $1100 is bad, u just wait.

That's what I'm afraid of!!

As for selling the stock and barrel for so little, holding on to them and only selling for the "right price" wasn't an option for me. I needed the cash flow, and besides... somebody got a good deal so that makes me happy. :) No sense stiffing other gunnutz. I'm in this hobby to have fun, not make money!! (yeah... like that's even an option!!) :runaway:

That's the most expensive ugliest 10/22 I've ever seen.

It's not the most expensive, not the ugliest, but the combo makes me vomit in my mouth.

Frick - for $1100, you could have a REAL gun. :) Sorry - not my cup o tea... oh, and I DO own a 10/22. Just not a lame ugly one.

looks good Matt, I sold my stuff because If i was to keep it going I would easily had $2000 in it in a hurry:D
keep it going.
$100 here and $200 there donsn't seem that bad Eh? ;)

Well, to each their own I suppose. I don't think I would have gone so far as to say "[it] makes me vomit in my mouth" if I didn't like a picture of one of your guns; but if you want to be a complete jerk and want to make me feel like an idiot, I suppose that's one way to do it.

As for it not being a "real gun", feel free to stand downrange while I'm shooting sometime... tell me if it's "real" enough for you then. :D

Wow - I struck a nerve. I never called you an idiot or anything - just stating I didn't like it. I suppose your thread didn't ASK for comments. You take the good with the bad - get used to it.

Feel free to bash any of my guns - I won't take it personally. I promise.
