10/22's are wicked... now with NEW pics!!

Well, the VQ parts and the flash hider are finally in. :D It (the flash hider) makes it look that much 'meaner' with the TI mags, but maybe just a little too "evil" as a hunting rifle with the 10 round mags. Oh well.

It surprised me though how much it (the flash hider) actually reduced the sound signature.

<disclaimer>
no, it is not a sound suppressor, it simply re-directs the noise downrange!

I'll post pics after supper.....

New pics up on first post. Notice the new "super-cool" flash hider at the muzzle, (I wouldn't want to ruin my night vision with it's massive muzzle flash  when shooting zombies at night...) ;) and the extended mag release. Unseen (of course) are the VQ bolt buffer and VQ extractor.

A bit of a note on the extractor:
There is a sticker on the baggie that the extractor and new spring comes in that says "Use factory spring when installing in a MkII/MkIII".

I didn't know that there were different Mks of 10/22's. So I went online to find out which I had. I figured I'd be able to tell by using the serial number maybe...? I didn't find anything useful except that maybe there are entirely different firearms called MkII and MkIII. (I'm sure someone will fill me in on this)

Anyway, so I'm not sure what to do. I examine both springs and I notice that the new one is quite a bit smaller. I go with my gut and leave the original in. No workie. It grabbed the rim ok when I stuck a shell in it before I re-assembled it, but once I got it back together, it wouldn't load. It just jammed the shells in at a really steep angle.

So I took it all apart again and put the new spring in. It was kinda doing the same thing at first, but at least the shells were loading if I gave the handle a little nudge.

I took it out to the range to see how it shot and the very first shot stovepiped! I was not impressed. I figured I'd burn off a few more shells to see if it would keep malfunctioning, but that was it. Just the first one. I fired off over 100 rounds without any other sort of malfunction whatsoever. :D

I was able to keep 5 shots inside 1" @ 50 yds without too much trouble. I wasn't trying very hard and it was kinda windy. I had a few groups with 3 holes out of five touching, so I'm betting that, with a higher-powered scope, a less windy day and some concentration on my part, I'll be able to shoot 1/2" groups @ 50 yds. Not bad for a plinking and rabbit rifle.

They're talking about the Ruger handguns - not the 10/22. There is no MkII or MkIII 10/22. Use the spring that comes with it.

And I must say - the flash supressor makes it look MUCH better. Still, not my cup of tea, but I'm not barfing anymore... haha ;)

So how about this? (don't worry, it's not permanent... just Photoshop) ;)

Waddya think? I'm kinda leaning toward the green or dark earth. I think the tan looks just a little too... Je ne sais qua...? Plus, it'd get dirty really easy. :D

Any other colours you'd recommend?

I vote for the pink one. If no to pick then you should do a combo of all three.

Also yes it is nice when the crosshairs line up with the bullet holes, no more guessing :D

Wow those things look sweet!! Where did you get the barrel, stock etc... Uh-oh I'm thinking this question could get expensive. haha

I think I might go with green... if I decide to change it at all. Black does go with everything you know... ;)

As for pink.... I don't think so!

You can look to the first post for what I have in accessories and their prices. Be prepared and go hide your wallet now! :D
