The general consensus used to be that removing them would enhance accuracy... that has now become a debatable subject.

is it safe? yes.

is it worth doing? It is one screw... not a project. Just unscrew it and take it off. Shoot it and see how it does. If it's better, leave it off. If it's worse put it back on or bed the action.

Some people remove it, some people leave it the way it is. This is because some guns like the added preasure under the barrel.

If you dont plan on modifying it, get the Deluxe version and you wont have a barrel band to worry about.

I can get on local for about 240 for a plain jane
