10.5, 14.5 or 18+ " AR if only had a 100Y range

So I'm looking at getting an AR. I only have a 100Y range and its baffled so no action shooting. I mainly shoot 22LR, So I could plop in a conversion kit for the pistol range.

No sure what I want for a barrel length. I was thinking if I did 18+" or make a DMR than that solves me AR and precision rifle but then again its 100Y.

14.5" is not a total washout ( still could do 100 accurate ) but still could plink with 22LR if need be. But cmon 10.5" is sweet. I cannot decide.

I would build the 18dmr myself. You may find yourself wanting to go to a long distance shoot in the future. The 14.5 would work for both short and mid distances (300 yard)
 
14.5" will very easily reach out to your distance and will be advantages for classes if you so choose to expand your experience in the future. That is an all around versatile barrel length.
 
10.5" all the way. If it's gonna be restricted anyway, might as well have a cool blaster! Especially if you're only at 100 yards. Sure you'll get less velocity than a 18" barrel, but the paper won't know the difference.

This, or 18". If you ever did have the opportunity to shoot stateside you won't be doing it with a 10"/14" barrel (or a Norinco). Also the blast from the shorter barrels is a bit obnoxious, something I'm not fond of. In the end you can mitigate the blast and it's going to see duty at 100 yds so it really doesn't matter beyond what you like.
 
10.3" and I have shot it from 0 to 350m with no problems.

You will have no accuracy issue out to 100m for sure.

Barrel lenght does not neccessarily equal accuracy.

to just make hits, choose whatever length gets your rocks off.

with 5.56mm however, velocity is everything. If you ever shoot farther than 300m having that extra velocity will be handy. Aside from that, like I said, choose a barrel that fills the rest of your needs. Keep in mind the concussive pressure from shorter barrels as well. I just got a 12.5" assembeled and its pretty reasonable. I personally would not go shorter 11.5 for that alone.

Yeah but I'm not going to throw a scope on a 10.5" and treat it like a precision rifle.

I had 14.5, 7.5, 8", 20" Just the fact no action shooting or long range makes it a debbie downer.
 
I have a 10.5 , 15.7 and a 20...

When I go to the range for 100m and less.... I always bring my 10.5 with a red dot or Eotech sight.

Others do very well too. But the 10.5 brings something special to the day. haha

well if you can only shoot static at 100m then literally just pick one? I must say so far I am really liking my 12.5".
 
a nice noveske 18inches would be perfect, its actually 18.5 inches, you never know maybe pigs will fly and unicorns will talk and the ar15 will become nr.
