Doing a swap to a 10.5" barrel on my AR and am wondering if a Troy Alpha rail 11 would work or not. Presumably the barrel will slightly sit inside the rail, but how much?

With something like a dlask xb1 or a kx3 would this work? If anyone has tried this length and rail combo please feel free to share pics of your build 😊

I have a dlask xb1 on a 7.5 inch barrelled upper with a 9 inch Troy rail. The inner diameter of the rail wouldn't allow the rail to slide over the brake as the brake was too large. Had to open up the interior of the rail and install the brake last. Will dig up a pic.

Obviously their differences in barrel and rail length, but the differences at the muzzle end are the same 1.5 inch variance.

Ok, so it is the TRX Standard rail... but the inner dimensions of the TRX Standard and the Alpha Rail are the same. The Alpha just deletes the 3, 6 and 9 rail.

Interesting... Fenceline when you say you had to "open up" the rail do you mean you dremelled it out to get the db1 to fit?

In terms of the alpha 11 and a 10.5" barrel how do they correspond? Just curious if the means exactly .5" of muzzle device is hidden.

Anyone know any cheaper linear comps (I expect the kx5 to be pricey) that would fit inside the rail without modification?

Kinda new the the SBR build game!

Mine is a 1.5 in difference in rail vs barrel length, plus the XB1 which is more than half covered.

For you, with only a .5 inch difference between rail and barrel length, more of the XB1 would be visible. You can see the brake well within the rail through the openings of the rail.

I had to open up the interior of the rail to work with the XB1. The inner diameter of the rail was too tight for the outer diameter of the brake. It isn't noticeable on the outside.

This is good info - I think I could make the Troy 11 work. Does anyone have thoughts as to other flash can/ linear comp options other than dlask xb1 and the kx3/5 that would work without modification? Dlask was less expensive which made me originally favour those.

CTC Supplies has the Griffin Armament linear comps (more expensive than the Dlask) but are very nicely made. They are still 22mm diameter (standard flash hider dimensions) so it won't look like an integrally suppressed rifle like fenceline's does though.

Also, One Shot Tactical has the Allan Gun works linear comps on sale for 47 bucks plus S&H, but I have had some so/so experience with AGW stuff, some of their muzzle devices were threaded with dull taps or something, and needed to be chased with 1/2x28 tap to clean them up. Just so you're aware!

Thanks F22 , I actually really like the look of that AGW.

They look to be 2" long from the website. With a 10.5" barrel and Troy alpha 11, how much comp do you guys think will poke out? Would it work out to be roughly 1.5"? Or does it not correspond that way...?
