Have read about some issues with ejection on the 10.5" Norcs, but all really old threads. Have new batches been fixed? Any problems still remaining? Love my 14.5", and would really like a shorter AR, without paying an arm and a couple legs, but not if it doesn't perform.

From what I understand, and there are threads on this if you do a search, the issue is the extractor set up that Norinco uses and it can be remedied with an extractor upgrade.

How serendipitous. I was about to start a thread posing a similar question.

I just got home from the range with my new (to me) Norc 10.5 & I was lucky to get 2 or 3 rounds through it with out a major jam, one of which required separating the upper & lower & using a screwdriver to pry the spent casing out.

I used American eagle that my Mini 14 eats no problem with 2 Norc 5/30 mags, a LAR & a Beowulf which all yielded the same results.

This is my first AR & was the first time trying it out so needless to say today was a little anticlimactic. When it did work for 3 rounds in a row it was the time of my life though!!!

Can someone here with better search-fu than me point me towards the aforementioned threads please? The search function on the mobile version of this site is beyond my prowess.

As I said I am a total newbie to ARs, so if someone has some other advice I am all ears! I watched a couple youtube videos & tore everything apart & put it back together when I first got it. Maybe I made some classic newbie mistake & put something back together wrong. If I do need to upgrade the extractor & someone out there has a spare that's taking up space please let me know.

Anyway, would LOVE to hear some advice.

Thanks team!

OP I read all the same old threads you did. I bought mine about 2 years ago and have about 1000 or so rounds down the pipe. My only issue with it was using Lar-15 mags that had the grey followers. The problem I would get is it would occasionally feed a cartridge and shove the bullet into the case. As far as I can tell and remember it was the old painted guns that had the issues, mine is an anodized one, not sure if there were other improvements besides the anodized finish but mine works fine.

Home now and the search function on the desktop is much friendlier than the mobile version. After reading a bunch of the aforementioned posts it sounds like a BCM Extractor Spring Uprade Kit or an Extractor Upgrade kit from Questar is what the doctor ordered. Good luck others. Cheers!

I got a used norinco 10.5 from my lgs for $500. It has a quad forend, fab defence collapsible stock, magpul grip, bipod, sling, fab defense vertical foregrip and a crappy scorpion red dot on it, accessories must have cost just as much as the gun so I jumped on it right away. Anyway I shoot mostly reloads and it never gave me any sort of trouble.

These are the 3 most common problems I have come across with the Norinco AR15:

-Firing pin holes in bolt are oversize (you will notice you pierce a lot of primers)
-Gas tube breaking inside the gas block
-Broken hammer/trigger pins

OP, check out this thread too, even if just for poops n giggles.

I have the Nork 10.5. No issues. It was my first AR-15 just after the Sandy Hook tragedy. Figured I should get one whilst I still could. Now there is an NEA and Colt Canada added to the collection.

I have had more issues with the NEA than the Nork.

I will sell the NEA but will keep the Nork as I won't get my money out of it.

Just to close the loop for other newbies out there like me, I bought a $3 extractor spring and it solved all my woes. Nothing but pure unadulterated rock n roll now, look out!
