For general range use (and of course zombies)... which would you choose? Ammo will be likely be 62gr M855..

Doesn't matter for the range one bit really. Perhaps ffor longer distances, go 14.5 to get a bit more velocity. Fast action shooting, a bet less weight up front on the 10.5.

I actually have both and have set them up a bit differently. I did a mk18 clone with the 10.5 and an M4gery with the 14.5. Have fun with whatever you pick. I love 'em both.

I've had ARs with various barrel lengths,
7",
10.5",
14.5",
16",
20".

So far,
my LMT 10.5", with a rigid non-telescoping ACE ARFX butt, is my favorite for fast handling and short range games.
But,
I also have a 16" 6.8 SPC upper,
and an AR 10 in .308 Win,
for the longer games.

PS: the 10.5" is LOUD!!!

Damn. I already have both Uppers, but only one Lower, and don't really like swapping. I would prefer a separate Lower in case it needs a different buffer or something. Funds don't permit another Lower though at present, so I might just keep the 10.5" for now... or it will end up on the EE. Don't know yet.

One thing though on this Upper... it has a 'solid' raised Cardinal Forge. Anyone else seen or have one like this? See pic below. It's yellow LMT inspection card is date September of 2009.

If you get an LMT MRP you can have both for an extra barrel (approx $500 to $600) and a quick turn on a couple of torque bolts. Or go with a 10.5 and a 16 or whatever.

I've had several different forge marks on my LMTs. Anchor Harveys and Cerro keyhole marks. I sold an LMT early this year with a Cardinal.

I just confirmed with LMT personally that the solid raised Cardinal forge is correct for the latest forgings they are getting.
