10.5in AR-15 Optics for CQB Competition ?

What's the target? Shooting at the Figure 11 at the CQB match in Abbotsford, I started with a used Aimpoint PRO, and this let me make 3 to 5 point hits easily....mostly 3s and 4s. The 5 point box is the size of a large credit card. The next match I borrowed an Aimpoint 3x on a twist off mount, and I was freaking out about what I was going to do at 10 yards with a detached $600 magnifying glass, but I used the magnifier with no problems at that distance, and I got far more 4 and 5 point hits. So I bought a used Vortex 3x flip-to-the-side magnifier for far less than the Aimpoint, the only thing it gives up to the Aimpoint 3x is a bit of eye relief....more finicky on the "eye box".
What's your budget? Can you swing the $400 for a used PRO? If not I second the TRS-25, I've got two, the only thing they don't like is heavy rain, stood up to my Rem870 just fine.
I've ordered a 1x4 PCL to try next.

Yes the CQB targets 3,4,5s... I am leaning to the TRS-25 or a 1-4x... More on a budget right now...

Don't understand what all the fuss is about magnifiers. You want more than a 1x for tactical purposes, buy one cry once SpecterDR. You're paying 12-1500 dollars for a good rds + magnifier when for a little more you have what I consider to be a hands down winner of an optic. Crystal clear glass, built in reticle if batteries go down and 1x or 4x in less than a second. I have both, always, always find myself going back to the Elcan.

Back on topic lol. at 35 yards, as long as it holds a zero you're good to go. As stated, Vortex makes a very good product for the price. If you can swing it, I'd go straight to an Aimpoint if you plan on getting serious about competing.

Thanks GunfighterAlpha... I will do some more research on the Vortex...I just took a look at the SpecterDR...lol its $2000 over my budget lol Thx

I would recommend the Vortex Strikefire if you are on a budget. It's the optic I use for CQB matches. Another choice is either the Vortex Sparc or the Bushnell TRS25, like mentioned above. You don't need to break the bank to buy a red dot sight. If it breaks, oh well, you're only out 100 bucks and all that money you saved when you DIDN'T buy an Aimpoint or EOTech can be used towards a new optic. It's not the arrow, it's the indian. :D Personally, for CQB matches, I see no point in using any magnification, but then again I have perfect vision so I have no need for magnification for anything 50 meters and closer. Also, the Strikefire is NVG compatible.

Once you compete over and over again, you will learn where to hold when aiming at the figure 11 targets. I also compete with a Norinco, so it would be kind of stupid for me to spend money on an optic that is worth more than the platform it's sitting on, lol.
