10 gauge Shotguns, where you at?

There's a used Remington semi 10 gauge on the prophet River website. Go to firearms and click on consignments and scroll through and it should be there. Or phone and ask them

I'll chime in I suppose. I've got a couple 10 gauge shotguns.....well, 4 to be exact.

3 of them are Winchester 1901's and 1 of them is a SxS hammer gun, but I don't honestly know the make of it. I believe 2 of the Winchesters are from 1907 and one is around 1903 while the SxS is 1960's according to some helpful people on this site.

I use any one of these units for pests around the yard, gophers sometimes. And I have to reload everything for them, but I love using them.

I find the old lever guns quite pleasant to use actually.

I have a muzzle loading 8 bore double. Would use it, but it is heavy enough that carrying it is work. Would be OK in a blind, I guess, but 8 bore is a no no nowadays.

I've got a few short 10s that get out once in a while. A Parker Bros. Grade 2 underlifter hammergun, a Parker Bros. Grade 0 top lever hammergun with laminated barrels, a Parker Bros. EH hammerless, a W&C Scott sidelever hammergun, and a J.L. Rawbone hammerless. The Rawbone is actually a Westley Richards. J.L. Rawbone was at one time the largest gunmaking firm in Canada.

You should put that Parker under lifter in the " everything you wanted to know about shotgun action types" thread!
Danged near bought one a few years back, but could not justify the price for the condition.

My Parker under lifter isn't really the best example for an action opening thread. Overall it is in good shape, but someone replaced the finger-piece (the bar in front of the trigger guard that is pushed up to open the action) with a flat piece of steel. It works fine it just doesn't have the engraved tip that makes it more comfortable to open. I should find a replacement finger-piece and change it out, just haven't got to it yet.

I do have a antique BP drilling in 10 bore with 45-70. I will readily admit that 2-3 hours of a morning hunt in the upland fields is my maximum daily use.
It is much better for ambushing deer or black bear at closer ranges in this boreal forest hereabouts, IMO.

Suspect next year I'll be better set up for bismuth and subsequent waterfowling from a ground blind with this one.

Cheers folks.....

I found this one at the post office today.....;)

Ibargun Supreme 10g...needs a new recoil pad but other than that I'd say it spent most of it's life in a closet.

I know your Rawbone and that is one beautiful gun!

I've had several hnr singles but they never stay. I have kept my Spanish double wing 32" barreled sxs though. Was planning to use it in the fields this year for geese but I had the barrels opened up and the so called gunsmith butchered them. They still pattern good but I can't stand the sight of the ridges in the barrels and the fact that my left barrel shoots to the right now. Soon ill drop it off with another gunsmith and hopefully have it back in time for late season
The 10 will always pattern better then a 12

I call BS on the recoil part
my browning gold recoils less then most 12 gauge 3 inch mags do

^Agreed somewhat. The most teeth shaking recoil I've personally experienced with a single triggerpull, besides a 50 BMG with a 22 inch barrel, was a friend's Mossberg Ultramag(?) with 3.5 inch BB factory load.

This shotgun also had a tendency to also launch it's front bead sight into orbit more than once or twice.

just info

Agree 100% on the bs about recoil I've owned a lot of 3.5 12's they've all kicked like mules now they are just dust collectors I use my gold ten on waterfowl, coyotes and this season deer.
