i was at home today and got the urge to do some slug shooting. i started off with some 12guage 1oz. sabot slugs through my dlask 12.5 barreled 870 with a rifled choke and that went well getting a group of four inches at fifty yards shooting from a standing position. the recoil was not bad at all as the gun is heavy having a heavy barrel and a weight in the stock . i then tried out a squires bingham with some old imperial 7/8 o/z slugs and they had a fair kick as the gun was light compared to the 870. i have an Ithaca road blocker and some slugs for it so i gave it a whirl. these slugs are twice the weight of the 7/8 oz. slugs at 1 3/4 o/z. and it was a first for me firing them .the kick from the big ten Ithaca was less than the slug 1/2 its size and the accuracy was the best of the guns with two shots in a three inch group. the heavy weight of the gun along with the gas system soaked up recoil like a sponge .that was a lot of fun and i had to share it with fellow gunnuts .
