10 mm auto dead?

Hi: Looks like the 10MM auto is going to die. I looked and only found one place with loaded ammo no dies or brass. Too bad it looks like a really powerful round. Dan

lol! Only as dead as you want it to be... In fact, I'd say the 10mm AUTO is going through a bit of a resurgence of sorts (at least in the US); dies, etc. can be order from the US. Brass there are Canadian STARLINE importers/retail shops that serve.

Definitely a reloaders caliber (i.e. don't bother with retail 10mm AUTO as it is basically the same as .40S&W but in the longer case), I've since returned back to the .45 SUPER. But love 10mm AUTO just the same.

Cheers~

10mm is actually gaining in popularity, albeit slowly. Yes factory ammo is hard to find and expensive, but reloading it is cheap. For the last few years there a few new 10mm's at SHOT being unveiled.

It has a small but devoted market. Given its popularity is increasing stateside for hunting and new 10mm guns are being introduced on the market, I don't think the 10mm is going anywhere.

I can't see why you don't find reloading stuff. Everything is .40s&w capatible like the dies and projectiles. The powder is any magnum powder 800x, hs-6, 4756, etc... large pistol primers, only thing hard would be brass and that can be ordered online.

Loaded ammo have always been rare and expenssive

I am eagerly waiting for Colt to bring the Delta Elite back out in the blued version. I have always wanted one but the stainless just doesn't appeal to me.

If you like blued, you could check out the STI nitro. It is a little too super fly for me personally but it is a very well put-together package.

I load 10mm with .40S&W dies. I don't load a lot but it wasn't hard. I load .454 with .45 Colt dies as well. The cartridge is just a little longer, no biggie. The projectile for 10mm is the same as .40S&W so how could it die, all you need is brass. The brass should last a long time.

My understanding is that the 10mm was developed for the FBI but it was too powerful and too much recoil for the majority of agents. Then came the 40 S&W, a tamed version of the 10mm. Same idea as .357 mag and .38 spl.

Buying factory 10mm is a waste of money. You may as well just shoot a 40 short and weak.
If you want to shoot 10mm as it was designed you need to handload. I use 800X for my loads and it's awesome. The worst thing about shooting 10mm is losing brass sucks but it's not hard to find more when you need it.

Very much alive at my place - I shoot a converted SAM Omega 6 1911 and a Sig 220 in 10mm. I handload exclusively (cheap as 45). Current favorite nuke load has 800x behind it.

I don't think wnyone makes a 10mm specific die now, i know my Hornady dies say 10mm,. But they were purchased before 40sw was even out yet.

As i said before, 10/40 dies are same now.

got to love the looks people give you with MAX loads, they think you double charged your loads.

a fully supported ramped barrel helps too, thats one thing i don't like about the Deltas.

Alright. I'm interested in the sam conversion. What barrel and where did you get it?
