10 mm auto

Knowing a little bit about the OP from the hunting rifle subforum, yes he reloads, and I really don't think price would factor in...
I've had the Smith 1006, didn't care for the ergo's and let it go. Have a G29SF and don't think that one will go anywhere, anytime soon.
That said, I might suggest STI for you, can't go wrong with 1911 style for ergo's... Glock 20 or 29 is another good choice if you want to go with a more "bare bones" solid choice.

I think the G20sf is the best 10mm auto ever built...love mine, don't shoot it as much anymore just because sorting brass out from 2000 others is a pain every time I do it. But it's a great pistol.

Some of the older Delta Elites did have longevity issues...although I'm told that current ones are very good. Colt builds better guns now than ever.

Ive been looking at adding a 10mm to my collection a lot recently. And seeing as how I only shoot Glocks and 1911's my decision has come down to a Gen4 Glock 20 or a Delta Elite. In the end I cant help but think Im going to end up with the Glock. About one third of the price and pretty well no wait time. The Delta Elite would be a lot more appealing to me if they updated the design a little and used say novak sights and added a beavertail. Both are things that can be done after the fact but add to the already disproportionate cost.

Kimber makes a couple of 10mm's as well. The Eclipse Custom II, and the Kimber Stainless Target II.

I have the Stainless Target II, and it is a dream to shoot. More accurate than I am, and handles full power loads without any pressure signs.

Just to muddy the waters some more.

Tell me more about the Kimbers, are they available, readily. Now we're talking a handgun I would consider, are they better than the rest. I always likes the looks of the Delta Elite. Besides the Kimber what is out there in a semi-custom or high end auto.

I would take a low-end Colt over a high-end Kimber any day.

Kimber QC is atrocious to non-existant and they use parts which are basically "in the white" - as in nothing to prevent rust.

Kimber barrels are often rusty straight from the factory.

It's your money but I wouldn't bother with Kimber for a second.

Kimber is NOT a semi custom high end auto....far from it actually

This is a semi custom 10mm.....htt p://wilsoncombat.com/new/handgun-classic-supergrade.asp#.UTi4_BzviSo

Colts are the way to go if you can find one.

That would depend on what the OP's intentions are to do with the pistol.

If shooting factory 10mm ammunition (.40 Short & Weak specs), any brand of handgun will work fine.
However, if reloading to full 10mm potential :), the Delta Elite is NOT the firearm you want, due to lack of case support.

I've never owned one, but I thought Kimber was supposed to be a high end handgun. The Glock may be a good pistol but I just can't bring my thinking around to buy a plastic gun. I do like the 1911 type pistol and I like stainless and blued steel. I won't be doing anything particular with this pistol as I quit competitive shooting years ago and my eyes will never allow me to reenter the game now. I will definitely be loading for it and they will all be jacketed full house loads, if I wanted a 40 S+W I would buy one but I want a 10 mm in all it's full glory. I don't care if it costs 2K I want a gun that's accurate and will stand up to a lifetime of 10mm loads. Does this narrow the field a bit? The pistol probably won't see 10,000 rounds in my lifetime as I have too many others to shoot as well. I had one of the first production runs of the Coonan, this was a beauty in both form and function. A truly high quality pistol in all aspects and I would like a 10 in the same class, if there is such a thing.
I like the looks of the Smith, wanna sell it?
