10 mm auto

I've never owned one, but I thought Kimber was supposed to be a high end handgun. The Glock may be a good pistol but I just can't bring my thinking around to buy a plastic gun. I do like the 1911 type pistol and I like stainless and blued steel. I won't be doing anything particular with this pistol as I quit competitive shooting years ago and my eyes will never allow me to reenter the game now. I will definitely be loading for it and they will all be jacketed full house loads, if I wanted a 40 S+W I would buy one but I want a 10 mm in all it's full glory. I don't care if it costs 2K I want a gun that's accurate and will stand up to a lifetime of 10mm loads. Does this narrow the field a bit? The pistol probably won't see 10,000 rounds in my lifetime as I have too many others to shoot as well. I had one of the first production runs of the Coonan, this was a beauty in both form and function. A truly high quality pistol in all aspects and I would like a 10 in the same class, if there is such a thing.
I like the looks of the Smith, wanna sell it?

stupid me sold it a few yrs ago......regret that too :bangHead:

Kimber's are nice pistols just not "semi-custom high end" .....that's when you get into wilson/nighthawk/ed brown territory

You might wanna check out the 10mmtalk forum

what about para-ordnance, they must make a 10 mil.
It's bad enough that people are talking Kimber....let's avoid the total ####show that a Paraordnance would inflict on the guy.

Kimber is not a high end manufacturer. Para is a disaster, generally speaking. Although I did recently run across a discussion of a particular Para model that had some pretty high-end internals, unless somebody else put it together I would not trust the thing.

If you want a 1911 I have no problem recommending a kimber. I own an Eclipse and had a Royal. Out of all the 1911's I have owned that Eclipse is the nicest and most accurate. I know there barrels are carbon steel in the white but I have never had a rusting problem. If you do a search on the web you will find a bunch of guys that don't like them and a lot that do.

Nice 1026! I'd love to have one for my collection...

The 10mm is a great cartridge! From the current offerings out there, I'd say the Glock 20 & 29 are the easiest to find. I really like my EAA Witness in 10mm too. STI makes good 1911 10mms. If you can get your hands on a Dan Wesson, I highly recommend. My Colt Delta Elite in SS is nice, but the Dan Wesson is great! There are S&W 10mm uatos to be found out there, and I love them. I have the 1006, 1076, and 1086 in the collection and they are all TANKS! If you get into the 10mm, definitely get into reloading.

The VLTOR copy of the Bren Ten is on the back burner... indefinitely.

Was it just a one-off failure, or did it seem like the 10mm cartridge was just too much for the platform?

The wonder finish .45s and 10mms are notorious for chipping and wearing very fast. I am a fan of the CZ design but as it is I don't think it is suited for a steady diet of hot 10mm.

I have a Glock G20C, had it for 2 years now, great shooting gun. I just noticed Glock now offers a Gen4 version and Im very interested in picking one up in the future :)

On a side note Im wondering whats up with Glocks in Canada, there are very few dealers who have any Glock product period and the few who do have changed there status to LE only, anybody else noticed this over the past 6 months?

The one caliber I've always wanted to shoot from a Glock but never have. Maybe one day I will find a G20.

Well it looks like I've made a deal on a Colt Delta Elite, will know for sure tomorrow..........checked out the Wilson and Brown sites, very limited selection in 10mm, any 45 your heart could imagine but not in 10mm. Would pay the price for either but they do NOT cater to the 10 at all, all 45s with the options.
I think Colt makes a fine pistol so I'm going to try this Delta Elite and if I love it I may order a Wilson.
