In the next pic, you can see the head if you look up and to the right of the muzzle

Looks good. Do you find it to be a really loud rifle with the short barrel?

I reccomend one for sure. Its very accurate and compact. It does have some weight to it. With that scope, it weighs in at just under 12 pounds
The scope is fairly heavy though but not sure of the exact weight. Savage claims it holds 4 shells but the clip actually holds 5. I pray one day they chamber it in 300 WSM and i would buy another one in a heartbeat. It is also quite tame. Can easily watch the gophers explode while shooting off the bipod :D

What kind of accuracy have you been getting? I was looking at buying one of the model 12s, but have always like the looks of the Precision Carbine.

It will shoot under an inch consistantly with both hornady and winchester ammo for sure. I havn't put in the time yet on the bench to see the best it can do. just got it last fall for coyotes. I also have a model 12 in 300 WSM. I can shoot a gopher at 300 with either one with confidence. By far my two favorite rifles
