This may in all likelihood be a stupid question, but I picked up an Bushmaster AR-15 today and rather than wait for the stock 5 round magazines to come in, the manager at my local gun store told me it would be a better idea to grab the 10 round LAR 15 5.56mm magazines instead. Now naturally my first though twas that all rifles were limited to 5 round mags, but he said because it was considered a pistol magazine (and still fits in the AR), it was legally limited to 10. I grabbed them anyways and am still waiting on my one-time transport permit to come in, but I don't want to take these 10 round mags to the range only to be kicked and banned because they thought I had unpinned mags or something.
Again, it's probably a dumb question because I might have missed something when trying to understand the law when it comes to ammo limits on pistols and rifles, but I didn't think they could legally sell something that was illegal to use.
Thanks
