10 Round LAR15 Magazines ARE LEGAL.

Well had a Sask CFO tell my friend on the weekend that 10rnd LAR mags were legal to own and use in a lar pistol but not to be used in a rifle so you wonder why there is so much confusion ? I also think the op likes to stir up s--t He just posted a ridiculous bear defence thread in the rim fire section look at his location "resident troll"

Well then the dumbass CFO should bone up on the regulations. It's in bulletin #72 for Dealers and on the RCMP website. There is also the clarification to Questar from the RCMP that the CFO should have received a copy of.

4. Magazines designed for one firearm but used in a different firearm
The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.
Example:
The Marlin model 45 (Camp Carbine) rifle chambered for 45 Auto caliber uses magazines designed and manufactured for the Colt 1911 handgun, therefore the seven round and eight round capacities are permitted. A similar example is the 10 round capacity magazine for the Rock River Arms LAR-15 pistol, regardless of the kind of firearm it is actually used in.

That CFO is a nitwit as it was very clear from the RCMP ruling (still available I think, also have a copy somewhere) that a magazine is prohibited or restricted by the TYPE of firearm it was DESIGNED for and not by what type of firearms it is used in.

LAR-15 Pistol magazines were designed for a pistol therefore they are allowed a capacity of 10 rounds. What you do with it is your buisness if you want to put it in a rifle and it happens to work...good for you!!!!

It also goes the other way around, the s&w MP-22 has a 25 round capacity magazine but S&W went ahead and said that these magazines are also manufactured for the PISTOL version.. BINGO instant mag cap of 10 for use in Canadakistan.

*edit* Turf beat me to it ;)

I realize this I just posted this so you could see why there is so much confusion my friend posed this question at a gun show on the weekend to a cfo that was there and that was his response

Lets all just start using 30rd magazines. Unpinned. Everywhere at anytime.
See how many of us can be arrested.
You all go first, I'll follow :p

Kinda of like the idiot I had discussion with at work the other day...

He ASSumed that because the Registry was being axed he didn't have to renew his PAL.

I told him that the PAL was here to stay and before C-68 we used to have to have an FAC to purchase firearms....

This guy is in his 50's and touts himself as knowlegeable on just about anything but he claimed he had no idea what an FAC was??

I explained to him that Turdo brought in FAC back in the late 70s and that they also made it illegal to hunt with handguns and brought in ATTs...and we used to be able to own full-auto before Turdo.

He told me I was nuts and that we could NEVER hunt with handguns or own full-autos and that he owned handguns and never had an ATT and took them to the range all the time....LOL?? He then told me another story about it being O>K to take an AR-15 in .223 hunting.

This guy has owned guns his whole life and basically was clueless to all the laws and changes to the law over the years....

Yeah Ive met guys like that too, theres just no convincing them that they're wrong cause theyve got years of experience, right? "Ive been carrying my pistol in the bush for twenty years and never had a problem" As much as I'd like to think "gun owners" are generally good people, I realize there are some who do not deserve the right. But to the OP, not that your too far out of line but "f%@&ing noobs" doesnt welcome anyone to the sport. If you dont like a certain thread than skip over it. We need all the support we can get. Now Sons Of Guns is about to start and theyre makin a 12 ga. gatling gun... peace out bra;)
