10 round mag in my rifle

I don't think the mag is a prohib, you just can't use it in the semi, but as far I know it's ok in the pump gun.

As in shotguns limited to 3 rounds, rifle limited to 5 etc.

most guys at camp carry two or even three five round mags well hunting deer . i was at are local gun shop yesterday asking about buying a 10 round mag for my pump 270 and he said it is not leagal in ontatio . i thought is was just for semis but he says . we are not alowed to have them at all . we hunt with hounds and can have lots of shooting so a ten round mag would be great . No rifle limits besides the federal mandates. Shotguns plugged at 3.

DH -The guy at the gun shop is wrong. The only rifle magazine limit in Ontario is the federal law - Semi-auto centrefires are restricted to 5. Everything else is a go. Think of all the Lee Enfield with 10 round mags or Winchester levers with large tube mags.

Except the Garand which is specifically exempt with its 8 shot system.

I recall visiting with a fellow with a pump action ( Rem ?) in 223 that used AR / Mini 14 mags or so it was claimed.
I'd imagine there was a problem with that as they worked in the Black rifles as well...unless he was BSing me.
But it was a pump in 223 with a big old mag hanging out the bottom.
May-haps the guy in the gun shop was thinking of this rifle?

Depends on what the mag was designed to fit not what may actually fit.

They should be perfectly legal. The 76, 760 and 7600 series magazines are labeled for use in those guns. Though they will fit and function in the semiauto 74, 740, 7400 variants, they lack the hold open feature and are not specifically designed to fit them. Aftermarket magazines are a no go, as they are all labeled to fit both series of firearms.
