10 round magazines

How I read it is that all of the existing 5-round magazine requirements will require them to be permanent rather than pinned or crimped. I'm guessing this will affect things like the SKS, some pistol magazines perhaps, but I don't think it changes which firearms require 5 rounds (ie. semi-auto centerfires).

Though it's probably coming next, no doubt. But if they say all firearms must be 5 rounds max, no exceptions, then that causes a major problem for all kinds of firearms since most don't come with 5-round magazines and pinning or crimping is really the only way to modify them. This would sure poke the bear if they did it since even the most casual firearm owner likely has something that would have to be modified or surrendered.

It's all quite silly considering how rarely, if ever, the current rules are insufficient.

The real question if they pass new magazine restrictions will be who in Canada is going to pay any attention to it? Most people I talk to at the range have no idea that Ruger 10/22 mags are supposed to be pinned to 10, even guys shooting prs matches that supposedly are more in touch with what the rules are than the occasional plinker. I certainly don't care, but I've told a few of them that they should probably be discrete about it, just in case the wrong person sees it. And I definitely won't be cutting down any of my magazines just because the government says so.
