10 round Pistol Magazines for SKS...legal ?

Maybe I'm paranoid, but I have been burned before listening to "arm-chair experts" who personally interpret not only the spirit and intent of the law in the context or under the guise of "common sense".

Read the law yourself then and don't waste our time asking questions you don't want to hear the answer to, or go see a lawyer.

The law is clear on distinguishing a magazine apart from the firearm and simply restricts a magazine based on what it was originally designed to fit. If it just so happens to fit into a rifle, it doesn't change the fact that the magazine was originally designed to function and be compliant in a pistol (or bolt gun etc). If you were to modify the magazine to fit into a rifle, that would be illegal. But a magazine does not become a "rifle magazine" simply by using it with a rifle...it would remain a pistol magazine as that was its original intended design.

Except that I have owned firearms (restricted, non restricted and prohibited) since 1974, and I have seen Acts and Regulations change. I did not even need an FAC when I started; it was that long ago.

Then you should know better. Like others have said, age is not an excuse, nor does it equate to experience or wisdom.

It's the same arguement for LAR mags. The issue at hand is the legalese states we cannot modify a magazine to fit a firearm, therefore we can modify a firearm to fit a magazine. Same idea of converting a cz 858 to 556 with the stanag adapter.

I don't know what you are arguing about. A 10 cartridge mag designed for a handgun is for a handgun only. Mag designed for use in both SA rifles and SA handguns are subject to the limit of 5 cartridges.

The maximum permitted capacity of a magazine is determined by the kind of firearm it is designed or manufactured for use in and not the kind of firearm it might actually be used in. As a consequence, the maximum permitted capacity remains the same regardless of which firearm it might be used in.

Magazine specifically made for a handgun = 10 rounds
Magazine specifically made for a rifle = 5 rounds
Magazine specifically made for a rifle and a handgun = 5 rounds
Magazine specifically made for a handgun that also happens to fit in a rifle = 10 rounds (Example: LAR magazines)

I conceded my error and asked forgiveness for my ignorance back in this post: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...-SKS-legal?p=13824182&viewfull=1#post13824182 . It seems that you either lack grace to accept that, can not read, just enjoy goading othershttps://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/nest.gif, or are over compensating for some personal deficiencyhttps://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/eek.png; either way, your point has been made, and you can have this sand-box to yourself, as it seems that you may need to gain some "age" to gain maturity.

Happy bickering!https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.png

wouldn't be nice if they just lifted all these magazine restrictions. oh, yes, I'm dreaming lol.
