100,000 army surplus 1911's are being offered for sale to the public in the states

I thought in Canada the law stated the military/police had to destroy their firearms when they were no longer serviceable for use. Couldn't sell them to the public?

Just government policy, not "law", to the best of my knowledge ..... but it is pretty firmly entrenched policy ....
