Hi All Southern ON shooters.

Elmira Rod and Gun Club and SORSA are hosting a score type benchrest match Sunday Nov24. Start time 9 am.

5 relays at 100 yards in the morning, 5 relays at 200 yards in the afternoon.

Number of rounds required 25 scoring rounds per yardage. Suggest at least 25 additional for sighters. So minimum 75 total

Bipods, Mechanical Front rests, Sand bags allowed

You will shoot at 5 separate scoring targets and 1 sighter target per relay. 1 scoring shot per each scoring target. 7 minutes per relay.
You can shoot as many sighters at the sighting target as you want at any time during the 7 min. relay

Rifle classes,

a) Factory Rifle (Any factory chambered center fire rifle, any scope, bedding mods, safe trigger mods, crowning, recoil pads allowed)

B) Light and Heavy Bench Rest rifles

No guarantees, but this match has been attended by SuperShoot winners, custom bullet makers, custom barrel makers and even Ont0001.
Come out and hobb-Knob. Maybe even the elusive world record Nemisis .308... nah, that won't happen.

Google Elmira Rod and Gun Club For directions.

Hey Norm…You ARE guaranteeing YOU will be there AND bring NICE weather with you???
You know I'd come just to be able to shoot next to you again :)
Hey guys….this is really a fun shoot and the "last" official BR Score shoot of the season.
This is a great time to try it out if you haven't before.Shoot it off bipod on bench if you don't have a rest,
or even rolled up towels!!!
You'll need enough ammo to shoot 5 100 yard matches and 5 200yrd at 5 scoring shots per match with unlimited sighters.
(7 minute shooting time per match) 50 scoring shots over the day and count on another 40 to 50 sighter/foulers to be safe.
i head rumour that Norm might shoot his 30 BooHoo if it gets windy>>>>>>>>>>>
If you'll be there Norm,I'll do my BEST to make it too.
Regards
Gord

Ciphery, It was an unfortunate placement of the comma with missing space. Glad you picked it out. I tried to edit it and give you credit in reasons of editing, but it seems, at least to me, editing the header is more complicated than the body. I gave up.

WTF? No iron sight class again?:stirthepot2:

Hi Tom,

The targets used are US hunter bench targets. They were designed for hunter bench rest rifles using 6X scopes. They are not real good for irons, but you could center them up and shoot them with irons I suppose. They have about a 5 inch black outer aiming mark and an 1/16 inch dot X on the 100 yard, and 1/8 inch dot on the 200 yard target.

No irons only class, but you could shoot for personal credit.

Norm, I just can't see a 5 inch aiming mark at 200 yards with iron sights. Some days I have problems with that 22" aiming mark at 300m but manage to centre the whole 4ft frame in the front sight. I will have to pass on this match until the CNIB issues me a white cane and I can afford a scope.

Well Nov. 24 dawned clear and crisp at Elmira. Sunny and Minus 12. There were maybe 20 hearty souls braving the cold. I wasn't one of them, I came late just to schmooz and buy some of Billy Mitchell's bullets. Anyway my fingers can handle Plus 5, not minus 10.

By 1 PM, the 100yd match was settled. Ole Ont0001 was 1st with 268 out of 275 shooting a 30BR. Vera Carter second with 267/275 by countback over Alex Calder 267/275. Vera shot a 6ppc and Alex shot a 30 BR on a Panda action he won at the Super Shoot. All 3 shot 45X Leups. Alex used 34gr H4198 in his BR. Only 1 Factory shooter competed, I think it was Alex's son in law. He scored a 253/275.

I left around 2 PM. Maybe Ont0001 can fill in the 200yd results and the 100,200 agg.

Hey Norm,
as you said,I managed to stay just ahead of Vera Carter to win the 100yrd, but the cold and length of day really started to catch up.
I managed to finish 2nd for the 200yrd to George Carter, and took the Grand Agg.
George and Vera finished very close in 2nd and 3rd.
It surely proves how "nuts" some of us are "playing" in the snow, although the day did turn out nicer than forecast.
Winter well bud and we'll see you in the spring.
