Say fellas I have been drawn for mule doe and buck in southern alberta. I had a buddy custom load me some 100 grain Barnes triple shock cartridges. The test target gave an amazing group out of my Stevens with a 4-12 3200 on top. My question is will the 100 grain bullet hit hard enough on the front shoulder of an adult mule deer to do the job? I have only ever shot a deer once before and that was with 120gr nosler partition, which destoyed both shoulders in last years does. Thanks Greg

The SD at 100gr is ~.215 and a little more than .250 in the 120gr. However, a partition will generally shed it's front core, losing weight, and SD. So, all else being equal, they should perform similarly.

the 100 tsx-bt is the bullet I load in my friends 25-06

it has accounted for stones sheep, goat, caribou, deer, etc

That should be a great load for deer. We have antlerless draws in WMU 108 this year. What zone are you hunting in?

It will work great.
I have been using the 100gr. TSX's for the last 3 season I have wacked deer from ranges of 80 yds all the way out to 500yds. Every bullet exited and left the inner workings of the deer in a state of serious dis repair. (mess' up their innerds real good)

I found the same effect using 120grn on deer I use a Tikka 695

the 100grn tripple shocks should work just fine

25-06 in my opinion is a great gun for deer in more open shooting enviroments.

Good luck on your hunting

Kodiak I was informed by my big game hunting partner, that this is indeed the case. This is my first ever draw, so it surprised the hell out of me? FS

Fassteel --Good luck and fill both them thar tags. I use 120 Grains in the three 25-06's we use around here. Buy the damn things by the thousand and stay with them, Guns shoot very very good with them.
Ken

Fassteel did you actually get a draw for both doe and buck? I was under the impression you could only have one or the other.

You can legally draw both antlered mule deer and antlerless mule deer in Alberta in the same hunting year.
