100 lbs of Pewter

Is the purpose to add a bit of tin to the lead mix?

Someone local just told me they cleaned out all the local thrift stores of pewter trinkets!

I'm really starting to wonder how you find all this stuff! Must have a 10 lifetime supply by now...

I mine my range for lead and it's a royal pain to clean it up. Can sometimes find a pound or 2 of pewter at the junk stores and beg, trade or (gasp!) Pay for pure lead at the scrap yard.

I'm not meaning to say you trip over it in the street.

What I find takes legwork and effort too but my results aren't nearly as impressive so you are no doubt putting in a great deal of time and energy. Just a little envious is all...

I have tripped over it...my buddy left me all sorts of dive weights in front of my front door, lmao.

I have enough for a life time so I am pretty picky about what I buy and how much i pay for things. When I started I put a lot of effort into finding it. That effort is still paying off today. I am down to only buying from one tire store, used to be 4.

Bonus is that I get to share my surplus with the guys on here.

:)

I checked my local thrift store (WG) every chance i could (if i had time when i drove by)

Gave up

I could use some, instead have been buying rolls of lead free solder

I'm in for some (10-15 lb)
Not casting yet but starting to collect whatever I need.
Started doing the thrift store thing but is pretty time consuming.

Also the last pewter candle sticks I scored had f-ing plaster of paris poured in it so it turned out to be only very thin pewter.
Luckily at only a buck a piece :) so ended up being $4/lbs

When do you need it picked up because I'm not too often in your area. (i'm from Stratford)
