Well, "Santa" decided to take advantage of the "SAIL" store no-tax event and buy .22LRGUY a Marlin 795 for $124.99. I then decided to help Santa, and fill-in a $25 mail-in rebate form. :) So, postage aside, I got this Marlin 795 for $99.99 Even a cheap S.O.B. like me couldn't pass that deal up! Even if it takes a while for Remington to process those rebates..I take comfort in the extra value I know I'll be getting.

Since it's the 3rd rimfire this year, I had to agree to wrap it and wait until Dec.25...but not before I mounted a scope for it and bought a spare-mag stocking stuffer! lol (at Bass Pro, SAIL has no spare mags yet)

Look forward to getting this baby out, I'll post pics once I do...after the 25th! lol Guess I need to be "good" between now and then. ;)
 
Shot this rifle for the first time today, a quick sight-in and very informal ammo test. I don't think it's even worth trying to figure-out what kind of groups it's capable of until the trigger pull can be reduced a little. I'd say that's the only complaint I have about the rifle.

In terms of how it ran~I put 5 patches through the bore before even taking it out, and the first one came-out almost completely black! I expected a little dirt, but wow... With it pretty much spotless, I set-out with Federal Gold Medal Target and Winchester T22 Target and got the scope zeroed-ish with the Federal within about 25 shots. It was way off (scope previously on an airgun) so it took 4-5 shots just to get it on paper.

Anyhow, the gun ran flawlessly with both types of .22 ammo, no FTF or FTE. In fact, at 40 yards...I managed some very tight 5 shot groups without trying that hard. Really, it shot better than I expected and it was hard not to like how light the thing is for trekking through the woods. Once I figure-out something to do with the trigger, I'll put the target out a little more and bring some more ammo to try. As an out-of-the-box semi with no modifications, it seems to be a great shooter.
 
I think it was rimfire central that I got the instructions for lightening my trigger. I have had mine for 8 or 9 years and still like it a lot. My Grandson uses the 795 for gophers so I got a model 60 to use on the days he's out. The 795 and 60 both shoot very good.
 
The SAIL store in Vaughan had a no-tax event to celebrate their grand opening. Price was $124.99 out the door. Someone on this forum posted a link to the Remington rebate. ($25 rebate on the 795) I downloaded the .pdf file, printed it off, mailed it in to with proof of purchase.

We'll see how long it takes... :)
