100+ pic of my new VZ52/57 (now un-bubba-ed)

It really is a combination of odd engineering - the gas system is tough to clean, the front-locking tipping bolt wasn't used anywhere else, the relatively fragile bayonet, the oddball stocking-up...
I've owned 7 of these - both the 52 and 52/57, and they still call to me at times....
I made PP's christmas one year when I gave hime my collection of spare parts! :D

I picked one of these up a few years ago for $200. It is the 7.62x39 version and is either unfired or near to it. It has the greenish tinge stock colour and the metal and bore are mint which leads me to believe that it is all original. It looks so good that I haven't had the heart to shoot it.

I also have one of the original 7.62x45 versions but in rougher shape. With a little TLC it's a good candidate for refinishing as it is mechanically sound but the metal & wood look a little scruffy.

I believe that at least for a while these were one of the few guns the Russians allowed their satellite countries to use instead of the AK-47. The Czechs have always been pretty clever when it came to building solid, innovative firearms.

I'm going to commence a search for one of these very shortly...

When I get one, it will have a place beside my SKS, Hakim and Kar98k...
