Although not the best or flattest caliber for coyote shooting it's what I have...and I'd like to develop a load for that to be used primarily in the -C temperatures.

Has anybody developed a load using 100 or 115 grain bullets for the 7-08?

If yes, what powders have worked for you?

Sierra lists many options. On hand I have IMR4064, W760, VV540 and Varget. I suspect Varget is the best option but if there's something that's just dynamite for them in this chambering for this weight of bullet I would appreciate you sharing.

w760 47gr 3100 velocity best
imr-4895 42gr 3100 velocity

or 120gr v-max hornady #22810 coal 2.700
w760 46gr 2850 velocity
400-500 yards best of the best have fun

I'd load a 130 SMK for this project on dogs but that is just me. :)

Won't bleed as much energy , accurate as all hell, and fragile enough for the critters.

Take your pic of powder.

Been way too long since I shot 100gr out of a 7/08 so don't remember the data but I'd go on the speedier end of powders.

Thanks for all the responses. I'll keep the CFE tip in the back pocket in the future LH.

Obtained those bullets and that's what I will give as a go...760 just works for us. Thanks for the data and the "have FUN." Much obliged.

Rodger that. 130 SMK is a consideration going forward. (cause the 150 SMK's work excellent and made me a believer in the Sierra bullets) Based on previous results the advertising on the 100's to me is enough for me to give them a go.

Noted on the powder comments.

Now that I think of it, any 7mm 140gr Nosler bullet groups well. Pricewise the 120 BT's to the 130 SMK's is not large. If the 100's don't produce results a 120 or 130 pill will be next up.

Responses appreciated.
