Where am I wrong? Has a single person claimed it has a nice trigger? the hand guard isn't heavy? the butt stock does have rubber and didn't split apart when slammed to clear a round that wouldn't extract? the gas block is adjustable? the dust cover does cover the port fully? The barrel didn't go under extensive review funded by members of CGN that showed it to not quite be MOA? The charging handle is ambidextrous and not sharp?
I’m not saying you are wrong.
I’m also going to take what I read here on the forum with a grain of salt and a dose of reality.
Gas block: I have around a dozen ARs and not one of them has an adjustable gas block. I don’t see the need as I feed them the ammo they require.
Trigger: probably a run of the mill AR mil-spec trigger. I haven’t seen any close up photos of what they are providing or anyone actually testing the trigger weight, or whether it is a two stage or single stage, so I’ll wait and see what’s in there. Maybe I’ll tidy it up and use as is or switch it out. If I was to carry this in the bush, I’d want it a little on the heavier side around 5-6 lbs anyhow.
Charging handle: I have a few with the standard handle and don’t see this as a big deal, but then I don’t charge the rifle with the blade of my hand, so maybe that’s why it doesn’t bother me.
Handguard: Do we know what is coming with the second batch? I’ve read that it is different than what came on the first pre-order.
If it’s a useable tube, maybe I just chuck it up and shave some mass from the inside. But who knows -I need to compare it against some others I have and see if changing it out is worth the weight savings.
Dust cover: I’ve read that some are fine and others not so much. I’ll pass judgement when I see it.
Barrel: we’ve heard from guys shooting 3 moa ammo saying it is crap? Again, I know what I can do, and I know what my ammo can do. I can compare this rifle directly against my MWS and my M-110.
Muzzle brake: seems to work as intended. I guess I don’t place much value on having the latest and greatest. My biggest concern is if it affects accuracy.
Bolt carrier group: unless it’s broken and not doing its job, I’ll probably be ok with it as is. Tooling marks on the bolt carrier? I think this is a red herring, imho.
Trigger (gritty), gas block (fixed with no ability to adjust for under/over gassing), hand guard (heavy), barrel (inaccurate), stock (no rubber butt to prevent slipping and a user already had crack from clearing a jam), charging handle (extremely sharp and non ambi), dust cover (doesn't fit the port correctly), muzzle break (doesn't provide best recoil management or look that great) and bolt carrier group (build quality doesn't match a $120 Brownells bolt assembly.)
With the receiver sets now being $799.95 I'm kind of annoyed that the second preorder holders don't qualify for them as I have the majority of the parts I listed above. That means I paid $950 for parts that I'm mostly just ripping off and not going to use.
