I think they said that changing the profile from heavy to medium and fluting took 400 grams off of the rifle....that's almost a pound off the rifle. Don't take these as exact numbers...this was just a conversation I had with someone there.

It shouldn't matter, the heavy barrel vs Medium is to disperse the heat generated by the round. Excess heat causes groupings to open up however you should be able to get 5 shot groups before anything affects accuracy.

The fluting should help to cool the barrel by creating more surface area. The medium profile with fluting seems like a good compromise.

Do you know if there are any plans from NEA to maybe do a small run in the near future with a traditional front sight block and hand guard system?
Maybe a clone/mock up furniture set of the original AR10?
Is there any way to inquire into this? Would be all over one. I suspect there are many others who would as well.

This is a great rifle at a great price point. I mean this vs the $1500 deluxe 858s. Its a no brainier and no compromise. year ago i bought 3 XCR-M Pistol mags. Now i will have a rifle to go along with it.

Great job guys, technical, legal, regulatory and above all the competition. You just hit one out of the park with this one.

Rifle looks amazing, I bought black (and optics) with the intent to cerakote it ... Now just to decide which color and send it off to Athabasca.

EDIT: Is this the Lightweight Handguard mentioned in the FAQ? Or is that coming later?
