1022 aftermarket triggers

I’m running the volquartsen trigger pack, seems pretty good, from the factory there’s a tiny bit of Cree but it can be adjusted out and I haven’t messed around with it yet. I think the pull weight is around 2lbs. Sounds like the brimstone might be a good option or the kidd if you don’t want to mess with Canada/US border nonsense.

A Timney was first and it suits me especially the extended mag release.

Second rifle received a KIDD trigger kit and with the Dlask .920 barrel at 18.5 inches it will turn in one inch groups at 100 yards for five shots.

I only have one Target 10/22, but a VQ trigger and sear was enough for me. Sear cleans up the break and the trigger stop adjusts over travel. You could buy a trigger pack for about the same price as the gun, but it's still a 10/22 in the end.
The GM barrel made the biggest improvement, the Magpul stock helped a wee bit as well with the adjustable barrel tension. It shoots very good.

I am running a Hornet Custom Black Max 2.25 Ruger 10/22. I'm happy with it. No creep. Breaks clean. Came with the bolt hold open mod, super easy to deal with. Can send a factory trigger in as a core. Or buy a group from them. They have a bunch of triggers set up for various styles and types of shooters.

If you are handy, and have trouble justifying $300 + bucks for a new trigger, you might be happy with just doing a trigger job on the factory trigger.

I did it on mine and for a couple buddies and it does make a profound difference. It really isn't very hard, just take your time and think it through.

Think of it this way... If you totally screw it up, you were considering a new trigger anyway so you have nothing to loose and a chance to win.

I'm not saying the end result will be better than one of the good after market triggers, but you can significantly improve the factory trigger, possibly to an acceptable level for you.

This is a pretty good instructional video on the process.

Where other than Dlask can I get a Kidd trigger from?

From me as well as Kidd Bolt, tapped trigger pins, bolt buffer and complete bolt, extended charge handle as well as Kidd springs. I have two stage Kidd triggers but not for sale but have a silver single stage as new. Sorry Redneckchris but work got really busy. I kindah left yah hangin but a pile of contracts suddenly appeared all at once. My appologies pal. Busy CHRIS

from me when I list a couple I may have for sale once I determine whether they are single or 2 stage triggers when I bought them a year ago

then bought new from dlask after they said, they, were not going to carry them, bought 3

they are the best

From my personal experience...

1st choice would be to sent your factory trigger group to Dlask for their trigger job. Very nice 2-ish stage trigger. Very afordable.

2nd choice would be Brimstone Tier 1. Awesome single stage trigger for the money. Still afordable but cost more.

3rd choice is the Kidd 2 stage. Like other said, its the top if the 2 stage 10/22 triggers. Cost a bunch.

There is full of options, my advice is to buy the best trigger you can afford.
IMO, the BX is a waste of time and money, there is much better options for a little more money.

:agree: Been there, done that. Bx was a dissapointment over-all, spend a little bit more for a much better result.

Buy the kits from Kidd and Volquartsen and do the trigger job for yourself. YouTube videos do it step by step and if I can do I anybody can

I put the Kidd trigger kit in my OEM trigger housing, it is amazing and the rate of fire went up exponentially. The BX are hit and miss, my brother has one on his Dlask build and it is decent; however they tend to vary a lot and I would not buy one without actually testing it beforehand.

the quality of a 10/22 trigger is directly proportional to the price.

anything is better than the stock one.
even polishing it up yourself is miles better.

BX is better than stock.
any polish job is better than BX.
VQ kit is a nice step up from BX.
Dlask and or Brimstone is a step up from VQ.
then Timney.
then Kidd 1.
finally Kidd 2.

and if you look up the pricing of all those you will find each is a step up from the last.

i own them all and can attest to them getting better with price.

for the money, best bang for the $ is sending your stock trigger group to Brimstone.

for after market best bang for the $ id say Timney, because the Kidds while being better are hella expensive.

Quite a few years ago, when I impulse bought a stainless/laminate 10/22, I quickly realized the trigger was crap. At that time Rimfire Sports in the US was including shipping on the Voquartsen TG2000, even to Canada, and dollar was about par. Bought one, simple swap out (two pins) and voila! Great trigger and a superior mag release to boot. I sold the stock Ruger trigger group here for $75, so my all in cost back then was around $125. But that was back in the good old days. Now I'm not even sure if they ship to Canada.

But you can still buy that TG2000 and it's a champ. Not sure who else carries it...

I own one and have had one other TG2000 and they are better than stock or BX by quite a margin but dont hold a candle to either KIDD trigger and arent as good as a Timney either in my opinion. Many here judge their trigger to the stock Ruger triggers which quite frankly are junk, but can be made much much better with some TLC. They will still never touch a Kidd but it comes down too what you are doing. If only plinkin and havin fun a trigger job is probably all thats required but if your rebarreling and custom building a $400 trigger is no big deal when ur gonna end up at the $2000 plus mark on ur build! Just saying its not for everyone and only the user knows whats required for their intended use.
