i,m thinkingof buying a target model 1022 and was looking for some opinions on whether to buy or rebarrel and restock my international 1022? the cost of doing this would be more than buying the 1022 T. give me your thoughts on rugers heavy barrel compared with others.
thanks david

it,s not the size of the army,it,s the furry of the battle

Don't bother re-barrel/stocking the international - leave it as is.

If you want a better shooter, buy a beat up old used 10/22, because all you'll reuse is the receiver and trigger group. Then buy a new heavy barrel (Green Mountain or WhistlePig if you're on a budget, Lilja or Volquartsen if you have the money) and you'll have a good shooter.

The general impression of the 10/22T is that it's not bad, but you can build your own for less money. The T barrel is better than stock, but most would say not as good as a GM.

I'll second that... or you could remove the action from your international and shelve it for future interest. Now all you need is a barrel (Lilja) and a stock. Don't forget about a scope... you'll be needin one of them too... and the damn list goes on and on...$$$$$$$$ but that's ok because the fun is in the journey.
