1022 Mannlicher! The Search for Sights.

Hey guys. Just landed myself a beautiful 1022 Mannlicher version in Stainless today. All thanks to Joe Brooks and their wonderful service!

Anyway, past the suck-upping I'm curious whether I can find 'Tangent' Style sights for the 1022.

Something along these lines.

I'm a sucker for old military style firearms, and whipping a 1022 together in a similar nature would be pretty awesome. (That, and I'm not really all that fond of the current flipup sight they sport.)

I have never seen that type of sight commercially available for a 10/22, however a handy machinist/gunsmith could likely adapt one to fit in the 10/22 dovetail.

Is that pic of a CZ? If a "military style" is what you're going for, maybe a receiver mounted sight would be better. If you have a local smith, check out their parts bins, never know what you might find. I mounted an old M1 carbine sight on a 10/22 using the factory-tapped receiver holes.

If you want to mess around with a 10/22 to make it unique, you are only limited by your imagination and the time you're willing to spend monkeying with it.

I had the exact same rifle, never got around to mounting a peep sight before I sold it.

Thanks for the suggestions guys! I'll have to poke around. I'm almost tempted to settle for Tech Sites (ts100's) But if I can find what I want, i'll certainly pursue it. I really want to make this rifle unique!

As for the pronunciation, I believe you don't pronounce a strong "K" in "ch", its a funny Germanic language thing.

I have the same rifle ordered and already have the tech sights for it. IMO the best aftermarket sights overall that I've used.

Don't f up a beautiful gun such as that trying to put some crappy old sights on it.

Tech Sights are your best bet, but what is wrong with the originals. For factory sights I personally think they are pretty damn good.

Crappy old sights? I happen to love tangents.

Its pretty likely i'll go with the Techs, just easier to get and less work involved. As for the stock sights, My cheekbones are a bit wide, so I can't really get a comfortable weld on the stock to look down the sights without cranking the elevation up. Just a bit too low for comfort.
