I've just installed an aluminum tac sol barrel, and I had to sand it down to make it fit. It now fits very snug. I'm wondering if this is ok because my origional barrel drops right in and even seems to have a bit of play. Also I've noticed that the Tac sol barrel protrudes into the receiver about an 1/8 of an inch, is this ok? Should I sand more off the barrel to make it a looser fit? And I've noticed a few times that the spent casings won't eject and I have to pry them out with a screw driver( mostly wildcats). Any comments on that? Also when I use the bolt hold open, it's a ##### to get it to release . Lots of problems, lol. Thanks for any info.... Brian

The Tacsol barrels need to be sanded. I found my factory barrel to be very very lose. From what I've read, the tighter the fit, the better. As far as ammo. Wildcats are bulk ammo, try other brand and see if you still have issues. Also do you have these issues with 10 and 25 round mags?
Have you replaced the extractor? I found that helps a lot. I hope you find a fix!

I've tryed cci, thunderbolts, dynapoint , winchester super x and rem vipers, all work good in 10 rnd mag except for wildcat. BC mags work ok after the first five rnds have been fired. Do you have any suggestion for a good mag? Thanks...Brian. Here's a pic of the barrel protruding ,about a 1/16 into receiver. That look normal?

All my 10/22's have about that much sticking out to. I have quite a few bc mags and have very little issues with them, but some say they work better after they're broke in a bit. Also have a 110 round drum works well with some ammo not so much with others. Hope this helps a little.

i had a good long talk with Joe from Dlask one day when i couldnt get a barrel to go in and he said the same thing.
you want them tight.
he went on and explained why but i dont remember what he said, i just remember him saying tight tight tight! which was funny if youve ever talked to Joe cause he has an accent so it made me smile.

I had that happen with my btvs and Win HV ammo. With my 10/22 and factory bolt, I had that happen a few times. Once I bought a aftermarket extractor and then bought a dlask bolt. No more issues with extraction.

How difficult is it to change an extracter and bolt , keeping in mind I am very new at this ?

I didn't sand mine at all it was very very tight (not hit it with a hammer tight) I don't think I'll ever be able to get it out without trouble. Accuracy is pretty great. No need to ever take it out anyway.
