I am not trying to rag on any one I am simply curious why are some 1022s being posted in the EE with an asking price more then the cost of a brand new same model at wholesale??? Is it something to do with age or something like that?? Thanks
 
I figgured as much but that being said i ahve found some great deals from the more realisitic folks out there who are more willing to help out a young guy trying to afford new(to me) and wonderful peices of equipment for this hobby personally i like a beer and dinner before i get screwed

picked up my 1022 with bc barrel, syn. stock and 3x9 scope for 300
i found the best deals are found in your local buy and sell(paper version), all the older guys don't even know about the interweb so post in the buy and sell
 
I have to echo whats being said here. I am looking for another beater 10/22 since my wife has taken over the one I had. The prices people offer are insane, for another 10 or 15 bucks I can have a brand new rifle. And in a lot of cases it would be cheaper to buy new.
 
so i should sell my old winnie pump that probably only cost $39 way back in 1950, for $15 ? Sorry , goes for about $250 now-a-days.....

stop whining about prices . buy or don't buy , it's your choice .

Most of the 10/22's in the EE are not stock though. Some have nicer barrels, some have parts upgrades, or are international or rare versions. Others have stock upgrades, you get the idea.

Both of my 10/22's are worth a heck of a lot more than the 250$ I paid for it in the store.
 
I agree with what every one is saying i am not expecting a rifle that you paid little(to todays standard) to be sold for less prices do appreciate and i am not refering to 1022s that have been inproved i have seen several (maybe improved) at are not being described as anything other then stock for a couple of dollars less then brand new or more then brand new used is still used a car costs less after it has been owned even if it hasn't been driven any farther then the lot to your garage why doesnt this apply to rifles and before anyone tells me that a (for example) late 60 camero was sold brand new for this price and can now be sold for that price (more then it was new) i alrealdy said prices appreciate
 
People ask for a higher price then they expect to get. If someone who doesn't know better buys it, good for them(the seller) Otherwise the ad will stay in the EE and the price will continue to drop into reasonable range over time.

I think the cult status of the 10/22 and the inexperience of some users doesn't help either.
 
I feel a fair offer is 70% (if in real good condition) of the retail price. I too have had to question the prices in here. If you take the time to look sometimes you luck out.
 
Considering the 10/22 is 240$ new, I don't even bother checking the EE. Anything less than 500$ and I don't bat an eye... I mean, this isn't exactly the kind of hobby in which you cheapen out, anyway.
 
The reason why guns are overpriced is that you have to pay the sentimental value of the gun...

Notice how people always say:

- "It pains me to let it go"
- "...so this one has to go" ( to fund another project, wife is sick and tired, etc.)
- "only a few rounds through it" (we always see our loved ones like they were the first day...)

Each time you see one of those sentences, expect the gun to be overpriced by about 40 to 50$.

So if you see:

" Well it pains me to do this but i don't really shoot it anymore and i need the money to fund another project so this one has to go. It is in excellent to mint condition and is a great shooter. Only a few rounds through it"

The gun will bew overpriced by about 120 to 150$. Since it is obviously not reasonnable they will overprice it by 100$ and will ask you to pay the shipping. Each week passing they will BTT with a price drop of 25$ (thus they will BTT for 4 weeks after that the ad gets bumped to page 5 and so on...)

As the other one said : 70% of the price is a good deal. And people should know that even if they dont fire the gun and is still NIB you still have to sell it at 70% the price you bought it.

I hate people in need of money and those who don't want to loose money because they didnt think before buying.


I usually buy brand new.
