10m

The nice thing about a 10m airgun range is that it can be in your house. My range is in the basement. I shoot from the utility room, through the door and across the rec room to the target and pellet trap. The biggest problem is keeping the dog from sleeping on the couch that I shoot over.

Interesting that this sub-forum has popped up, the reason I'm getting into firearms is because I'm going to try and do 10m air rifle...
Licence should be coming soon, and then it's air rifle buying time, then it's years of nonstop practicing, then it's Olympics, then it's a gold medal for Canada!!!...... I'm half serious... any help along the way would be appreciated too...

Looks like you should be in the right place. Did you see what sort of hardware cz452 is into? There are obviously some people here that are pretty serious.

Just did, yeah, it's basically that, and Anschutz, or a Walther, and I think I'm going for the Walther because it's a little cheaper, still like $2.5k for the aluframe (which I like/want) but it's still not 3-3.5k... It ain't cheap, I'll tell you that much.

Hello and happy new year to all. Glad to see some air rifle target shooters!!!! Me and my wife shoot competitively , we are in Lethbridge where are you Ar60? We both have Walthers and LOVE them...We can help you get set up if that is your goal.

All of the guns mentioned will be extremely accurate. At that level it pretty well comes down to personal preference and what gun feels right for you. Feinwerkbau is probably the most popular AR, but that doesn't necessarily mean its the best. A nice thing about the walthers is that they do come with a half decent but plate (MEC contact III). I used my FWB factory but plate for a while but then finally bought a contact III and like it a lot more.

If you are serious about your goals, the first thing to do would probably be to find a coach and get some help that way. Speaking from my experience that is one of the best things I could have done when I started a couple years ago and I still see the provincial and former national coaches fairly often. Build up the right technique at first and don't get into the mental stuff to early. If you are not at first aware of any coaches in the area I would take a look at the books "Ways of the rifle" and "Air rifle shooting" both by MEC. These are both excellent books and cover the the more advanced type shooting positions, etc. There are more simple books if you are looking for a basic position to start in however.

I'm in Edmonton, and I think the only 10M range is in the basement of a German community center.
And yeah while doing research when waiting for my PAL I read those are the books to get, "locally" they are out of stock for a couple of months, from what I've been told. When I say locally, I mean in Alberta.
