I am strongly considering getting a 10mm 1911. Anyone run one? I see Kimber has some good offerings in it. I'd like a stainless Delta Elite but all I can ever find is blue....

I'd probably do the Nitro before the Kimber. Any more details/pics on the Nitro Colquhoun?

I don't have any pics in my photobucket, but I'll try and get some.
The gun was new this year and kinda has it's own theme with big wide slide serrations, slotted grips and front strap, bull barrel.
I personally would have preferred a checkered front strap, but it still feels good. It's a 10mm so it's got some bark but comfortable to shoot if you have 'reasonable' loads.

It has a muscle car look and feel.....everybody should have one!

I had a Kimber Eclipse Custom II in 10mm, great gun, I regret selling it and plan to buy another. I currently own a Para Elite LS Hunter in 10mm, great gun and I get some good velocity out of the 6" barrel. If you plan on buying a 1911 in 10mm make sure it has a ramped barrel for chamber support.

1911 in 10mm

Had a stainless Colt Delta Gold Cup but sold it awhile ago.

Decided just to keep the blued Cold Delta I had before it. I had a .40 S&W barrel fit to it as a drop-in to take advantage of all the free once fired .40 S&W brass that litters our local ranges twice a year.

Boomer686, did You try my Kimber? I can always bring up the Delta Elite and the Stainless Target II to compare. If it wasn't for the Les Baer I have on the way, I think I would have picked up that Wilson Combat 10mm.

I've been watching for a 1911 in 10mm as well and it was suggested to me to not go with a stainless pistol because they are more likely to have problems with cracking because the stainless doesn't flex like a regular steel pistol. Not sure how much truth there is to that but that's what I was told. I have a barrel from a Delta Elite sitting on the shelf at home and if I can find a 1911 in .40 for the right price I'll just have the barrel fit to that pistol and instal an appropriate recoil spring.

I do own a Glock 21 with a Storm Lake 10mm conversion and it's awesome but I wouldn't suggest buying a 10mm unless you are a handloader. Factory 10mm is downloaded to pretty much 40 Short&Weak levels and it is much harder to find and is much more expensive.
I've shot an STI Perfect 10 and it was awesome other than the double stack mags making for a larger grip, not a huge problem unless you have smaller hands.

I have the Colt Delta Elite 10mm, blue ... its a great gun ... it's got a good bark to it when you pull the trigger ... has always worked flawlessly ... and they seem to do nothing but go up in price. However, so does the ammo ... last I bought was almost $40 a box (50) ... however I have discovered that you can shoot .40 and the gun cycles just fine, no hangups that I have ever had, I use the same mag. I would highly recommend the Colt if that is what you are after.

PS - if any of you want to work out a deal to swap a blue for a stainless I'd be interested ...

I have a Delta Elite. I put a comp on it and use a conventional recoil recoil spring/full guide rod setup using a 21lb spring.
Gun runs great and is much fun to play with.
Had a 40sw barrel fitted to it to plink with.

Melted a Bomar, relieved the front strap and added a beavergrip safety too.

My preference would be to go to a supported chamber bull barrel.....maybe the next phase if I decide to toss more $$ at the girl.

I have been very interested in this gun from an aesthetic point of view, but I am a bit concerned about it's ability to handle stiff 10mm loads. If I'm going to buy a 10mm I want it to be able to shoot to that cartridge's capacity. Have you tried it much with heavier loads?

Also please do post some pictures. The only images I've seen of it really are STI's Photoshopped publicity pics, which make it look delicious, but I'd like to see the real deal.

I've been bit by the 10mm bug as well. I just picked up a glock 20 but now I'm looking for a 10mm 1911 to go along with my .460 1911 project.

All I know is it is time to start reloading, good grief 10mm is expensive by the box.

What's the going price on a Stainless Delta Elite now? I was just forwarded a link by a helpful CGN'er and I want a ball park on what I should be paying.
