1) Can I load fire breathing full power 10mm Auto loads using 180gr RN Berry's plated bullets? Will the bullets survive that? The ammo will be used in a Delta Elite and an S&W 1006 if it matters.

2) For proper function in both of the above guns, should I load to ~0.015" less than the max OAL? These are for a friend to use and I will not have the opportunity to load a few to test and then adjust after testing, I need to load the whole batch at once.

Thanks,
Mark

Load to standard 1.250" I'd be surprised if a RN bullet gave you any trouble. For the sake of not having issues keep it under 1200fps. If you want fire and boom powder selection is more important than an extra 100fps.

I think Berry states not to exceed 1250 or 1300 fps as the copper plating comes off at those speeds.

Excellent, we won't be over that. I am planning on a mid-range load of around 8.6gr of Blue Dot and a max load of 10.5gr of Blue Dot. According to my Hornady manual, that should give me ~1050fps with the mid load and ~1200fps with the heavy load.

I am hoping the RN is trouble free as well. 1.250" it will be, Hornady gives a max OAL of 1.260". As noted above, I am using Blue Dot powder based on numerous recommendations on this forum.

Thanks for the help, gentlemen.

10grns of Blue Dot behind that bullet should give you 1100ish fps out of a 5" barrel. It's been my target load for years I have had many chances to run it over my Chrony. Blue Dot won't disappoint with the flash either!
