10mm pistol, need suggestions

To those of you who own a Delta Elite, how comfortable are you shooting full-power loads out of it?

I guess it all depends on the shape it's in, but as far as I'm concerned, I'm starting to think twice before really letting loose with my DE...

Someone posted an article recently about an unusual 10mm handgun (forgot the name), and in it it said you could shoot your DE to pieces if you fed it a constant diet of high-power 10mm. Is this true?

Delta Elite.

I've got one, they work great and I don't have any problems running full power loads through it, handloaded or factory.

The 1911 was originally designed for the .45ACP cartridge, which "pressure wise" is a pipsqueak when compared to full house 10mm's. That said, if one uses shok-buffs and an appropriate weight recoil spring kept in in good condition, then the Delta can handle the 10mm. But I would hazzard to guess that, over time, a prolonged diet of full house 10mm's would tend to batter up just about any pistol design chambered for the 10mm ctg.

I had a glock 29. LOVED it. But even with mag extensions and a grip plug, I just could keep a comfortable grip for more than 3 rounds or so.

A Glock 20 will be your best bang for the buck. But unless you've got very large hands, I dont know for sure that you'd find it very comfortable. Many people dont.

So its either a grip reduction on a Glock 20 (or 29) as there are no SF versions yet, or get something custom made.

Theres Gunnar from Armco turned me away the first time as he's too busy keeping up with all us gun nutz. But now he's making me an STI Ranger II in 10mm.

He recommended it because it has the full legth frame and an advanced recoil system.

But there was also a beefier model, with a rail. I think it was called the "Tactical" Looks cool too. But I dont want that much gun.
Just a single stack 10mm is good enough for me.

If you can find a Delta Elite, or a Dan Wesson Razorback, they are great guns and you cant go wrong.

But if you have specific needs, and no one else can help... maybe you can hire.... a gunsmith.

(Catch that "A-Team Parody" there?)

I own one like this since 5 months. I know it's not the nicer but it shoot very accurate. And no misfire after 500 rounds.

You all missed an important member of the 10mm club , Just in case he dosen't want a ground littering ,reciprocating, bottom feeder. You can always get set up with a S&W 610 with a 6"barrel and rigged for moonclips . Good solid gun very accurate and goes bang when the trigger is pulled . Plus instead of chasing brass everywhere they are deposited in covenient 6 packs !!!!!
