It seems that the 10mm is quite a 'do it all' pistol cartridge.
I'm thinking about getting a pistol in this calibre.
What is the best option ?
Where do you guys buy ammo in this calibre (lebaron doesn't have it I believe)...

Thanks

I've been thinking about getting a 10mm for a while myself

Kimber and Dan Wesson both make 1911s in 10mm, there's also Glock 20 and Tenfoglio (sp?). There are others discontinued models available....

I love 10mm, it is a great cartridge, but just not popular. About 2 years ago, a few of the 1911 makers started to make them again, Kimber and Dan Wesson. Glock still makes one and there are always Colt Delta's for sale. The S&W's were hit or miss, but all in all the cartridge is a good one. As for purchase, not to sure about Quebec, but I know a few shops in Ontario that have it. Have you considered reloading.

The first Smiths had major problems, the FBI ones, but the later ones were good as they ironed out the issues, not sure if they even make them anymore though. I sold my 1006 last year, it was fussy with ammo, but I found a good load and then it worked good.

The good thing about the Glock 10mm's is that you can get a .40S&W conversion barrel as well (no other parts required).

I had a Glock 20 with a KKM barrel in .40 for cheap shooting. The gun worked quite well with nuclear handloads in 10 mm but I was using a KKM 10 mm barrel as well. With a standard Glock barrel the high end 10 mm handloads will leave a huge smiley on your brass. Right now I have a .40 STI Edge and will be getting a second .40 barrel reamed out to 10 mm, should be alot of fun.

Were you having FTF or FTE?

Some of the S&W's are getting pretty old now. Depending on round count your's probably needed a check-up.

Some are finding the extractor springs get weak and need replacing which cause FTE($2 fix).

Alot of reports of weakened mag springs as well which usually contribute to FTF.($7/mag fix)

The 1006, from what I have read, has been a VERY reliable semi-auto in strength and function departments. It is also a large heavy pistol that handles hot 10mm well.

On the down side, the ergonomics are not all that great. I am not very fond of the slide mounted safety either.

I had a S&W 1066, factory limited edition 1 of 5,000 stainless with 4 1/4" barrel with factory nite sites for quite a few years. It ate everything I put thru it without a hitch.

I'm sorry I sold it but went back to the Colt Delta Elite, so one had to go. :(

Does anyone know if Colt ever made Delta Elites in 'Combat Commander' configuration? If they did, I'd love to get my hands on one......

I have a Glock 20 and I like it a lot. I can reload with the same dies, bullets, and powder as my .40. The only drawback is finding reasonably priced brass. I paid $110 for 1000 once-fired brass from Marstar. If you can import it, Starline Brass (www.starlinebrass.com) in the States seems to have the best prices on new brass.
The .40 conversion barrel is a good idea: go with KKM or Bar-sto and make sure your magazine springs do not get too worn out.

I have the Glock 20, Smith 1026, Delta Elite and a Tanfoglio Stock....

I love my 10mm's. They are incredible!

I love the Glock 10mm I shoot. Mine is a Glock 21 with a KKM 10mm conversion barrel. I am thinking of buying either a Glock 29 or a EAA 10mm. Regards, Richard:D

I've shot my cousin Richard's 10mm and I was impressed with it, even more so because it was his ammo I was burning up too.:)

I'm more of a revolver guy and will be looking for the few 10mm made for them. Actually the .41 mag is a favorite of mine and also a cousin of the 10mm. Both are more suited to the reloader of course concidering cost of factory ammo.
