10mm slide stop

Does anyone have a make and part number for an absolutely rock-solid 10mm slide stop for the 1911?

I've a RIA gun that will usually lock open with the factory mag, but rarely to never will on an empty mec gar mag (I've 3 mec gars).

I understand that slide stops are often an issue on 10mm guns in this regard, and anything I've read says to use a 9mm stop.

I would rather get the opinion of CGNland before I go and inevitably end up buying and trying half a dozen of the buggers.

You need to go to a higher mainspring... that takes the load off the slide stop. don't go to a higher recoil spring assy, that will not help much

I'm not sure that's the problem, as manually racking the slide with an empty mec gar in there won't engage the stop either.

Or, to turn the problem on its head - can anyone recommend a more reliable mag that worked in their gun that the mec gars failed in?

I could ask the importer if they can get the Armscor ones, but that one isn't absolutely 100% either.

This wouldn't be as big a deal if I were right handed and could therefore lock the empty gun open without swapping it to my right hand

The main purpose of the 'recoil' spring is to store enough energy to chamber the next round. No more than 15% of the weight of the recoil spring has anything to do with controlling the slide moving backwards.

In order to slow the slide significantly (prevent wear and slide crashing against mechanical limits that can 'bounce' the slide stop) get a decent mainspring weight. 25lbs is a good place to start.

Yes, the mainspring does control the force of the hammer, but try this. Rack the gun (empty of course) so the hammer is cocked. Now rack it again. See how easy that is? I usually buy a pack from wolff.... their spring packs for mainsprings have a variety of weights in them.

As well, depending on the follower height of the replacement mags, there may nor be enough protrusion of the follower to trip the stop.
