10mmAuto Favorite Recipies

I'm going to have my first in a few months. Picked out 180gr Cam Pros for no real reason. Seemed like a popular weight.

I'm looking for a fine combination of accuracy and boom. Power Pistol and AA7 are on the list to be tried.
 
I'm using Longshot right now. Have a fair bit of HS6 as well, so may develop some loads in that later.

VanMan, that is Awesome, thank you. My longshot order is coming... I can't wait. How much headroom is available once you get close to max loading? Are your primers showing any signs of pressure? What can I expect out of this powder?
 
Longshot is probably the best easy to find 10mm powder out there for 180s that will work well through a powder thrower. 800-X will always be the king for pretty much all weights IMO though. Too bad it is hard to work with. My most impressive load is the following

135 JHP
1.260"
14 grns 800X (14.5 is max)
Winchester LP (do NOT use CCI or other magnum primers)
Starline Brass

Velocity out of 18.5" barrels is over 2200fps. 4.6" is 1720 fps and 6" is a little over 1800fps. I have loaded every weight with nearly every suitable powder and this is my favourite for ####s and giggles shooting.

From a rough measurement, I think I was getting slight compression at 9.5gr. Longshot is a relatively dirty powder. I started off with that for my 9mm 132PF Production loads, because the fellow that sold me my 2nd hand Dillon 650 told me a double charge would spill out of a 9mm case. People tell me that those 9mm reloads made a "phat" sound instead of the normal "bang".

I checked my spent casings for any signs of pressure damage. Actually did have one split case, but I'm reloading with mixed 1-2x fired cases. Almost impossible to see pressure signs, as the only 10mm handgun I've got right now is a S&W 610. The case come back pretty hard when fired, so even milder 40S&W loads flatten the primer.

Thanks. I have plans for 200gn projectiles out of the Glock40 and Vector 10mmAuto. Trying to find a combination that works well in both platforms.

I like hot loads, but I'm scared to run that through my G20

I use 10 grains of Longshot with FMJ 180s. Any more than that and I don't see any velocity gain. 9.6 is the point of diminishing returns for JHP in my testing.
 
8.0gr hs-6 easiest powder for me to get
200gr nosler sporting pistol or 200gr hap
lil under 1000fps out of a 106mm barreled glock 29
