11-87 12 GA barrel support

I'm wondering if there are any gunsmiths out there that can resolder a barrel support on the magtube of a rem 11-87, I've got a new barrel support. I was told this used to be a job where you would send back to remington to get done. Tnx

I've precision TIG welded several over the years.

I personally would not torch/silver braze one,since it was originally induction silver brazed.

For many years gunsmiths have re attached the 'barrel support' on various shotgun barrels by cleaning all previous solder away and using high heat silver solder. It's a bit tricky but someone out there can do it...

I've soldered a few in the past and would suggest TIG.

How critical is placement and location? I was told by a couple people that special jigs were required.

Placement is fairly critical... I would think within 5 ... -> 10 thou max. Jigs help hold it in place while the soldering/welding is being done.
